I just received an update notion and downloaded GOG version 2.3.0.10 using GOG Downloader.

Comparing to version 2.2.0.8 on my harddrive and it's patch 2.2.1.9, the new version is much smaller.

What I had:

2.2.0.8 setup: 31.581.848 bytes

2.2.0.8 bin-file: 3.762.838.116 bytes

2.2.1.9 patch file: 1.260.183.688 bytes

while the new one is only a single setup file:

2.3.0.10 setup: 1.657.499.768 bytes

That's only 33% of the previous amount of bytes.

Is the game wrapped 67% more efficiently?

Has two-thirds of the content been cut?

What's going on?

Its alright. The new version is smaller, better packed and optimised. I just downloaded the new installer and tried it, everything seem to work fine.
They update the engine of the game to a newer version (Engine Update to Visionaire 4.2.5) for all Depoinia games.
Patchnotes for all 3 games can be found here: http://www.gog.com/forum/deponia_series/changelog/post2
