So I finished Deponia and Chaos on Deponia, and I noticed odd things about them. Odd things I surprisingly cannot find any info about - probably because I can't read German forums. So here are my questions:

1) After I finished Deponia, the Options menu had an option I swear wasn't there when I started playing. It's a checkbox with no description, just the face of a cartoon character with something purple on his head. When I check it the game prompts for a reboot, but I don't notice anything different after doing so. Anybody knows what this option does?

2) After I finished Chaos on Deponia, I checked the Bonus section. There is a sub-section called "Puzzle", and it's a 12-piece jigsaw puzzle... with no pieces. What's up with that?

3) The manuals of both Deponia and Chaos of Deponia have an entire section dedicated to Leopard Mode, with completely ridiculous steps on how to activate that mode. With Deponia I thought it was just a silly joke and moved on. But Chaos of Deponia moved that joke to a whole new level, first by constantly denying its existence in the manual, and second by having an in-game tip that actually confirms its existence. Because of that I can't tell if Leopard Mode is something legitimate or if it's just the developers trolling everybody. Does anybody have more info on that?

Hi maniac,
1. i dont know, never seen this.
2. there are 12 pieces hidden in some szenes, you may hit them to solve the puzzle.
3. have you tried to complete the steps for leopard-mode? DONT DO IT, if you are not allone, its very dangerous.
if you try it, please share the video on your favorite video-platform. Leopard Mode is like a shainsaw without fuel.
Hey SmashManiac!
1. I, too, can't recall a checkbox with a cartoon character. But you should have unlocked a new play mode after your first walkthrough called "Droggeljug". Try to start a whole new game after checking the box.
2. Like ottokarsubke already said, there are puzzle pieces scattered around the game. You won't get any response while just pointing on them. But you may click them, which will let them disappear and give you an acoustical feedback.
They look like little scraps of paper... Just try to click on different pieces of garbage around you ;-)
(But seriously, if you need further hints on finding them, just ask!)
3. Sooo... the Leopard Mode... people aren't supposed to talk about this. It has blown too many minds in history of video gaming. I don't want to be responsible for further casualties.

1) It turned out that the mysterious option is indeed Droggeljug mode. It's... disappointing to say the least. I've witnessed better placeholders in my game development experience. Still, good to know what it is. Thanks Maestra249! By the way I'm attaching a screenshot of what the option looks like - I still don't get what that purple thing on his head is supposed to be.

2) So it's just pixel hunting throughout the entire game and that's it? That's an awful chore. Is there a point to it besides a pretty picture?

3) Serious answers only please.

1. Can't say either what this purple thingy is. It's probably just a random design choice.
2. It is indeed pixel hunting. But it made me look at all the lovely small details in the background. But yeah, nothing else besides a pretty picture afterwards. There're twelve pieces in total btw.
3. Sorry, about that! Haven't figured out myself what the Leopard Mode is actually about. My theory is that it's something you are *supposed* to troll about. Something like an developer's inside joke. Hence the "chainsaw without fuel"-reference by ottokarsubke.
to 3: have you ever played "maniac mansion"? There you find a chainsaw, but no fuel. In one of the next games of lucasgames (Zak McKracken) you find "fuel for a chainsaw", but of course no chainsaw.
Its the same with Leopard-mode. If i remember correct, this was initiated in developers forum before release. But now i cant find it anymore.
1) I started playing Edna & Harvey: The Breakout. Turns out that the cartoon face I was wondering about is a portrait of Droggeljug from that game, purple thingie included - which is actually a cushion. I don't think I would have made the connection. I can't believe they made an entire game mode based on this one lame joke of a character too. Anyways, mystery solved.

2) Good to know, I'll skip this part. Thanks! I like looking at the backgrounds too, but I want it to stay that way. ;)

3) Apologies accepted Maestra249. And yes, I played Maniac Mansion ottokarsubke, but not Zak McKracken. I knew about the useless chainsaw in the former, but I didn't knew about the chainsaw fuel in the latter. Interesting trivia! But the fuel deception in Maniac Mansion is relatively obvious and genuinely funny, while Leopard Mode is presented as a true-but-twisted rumor in Chaos of Deponia, sending people in a despicable wild-goose chase. I guess it would make more sense if I could have followed the entire saga unfold from the developer's forums. Or not. In any case, thanks for confirming my suspicions.

leopard mode is just an elaborate silly joke. Sooner or later id bet they actually will make a game that has a leopard mode to complete the joke...
(other games like edna and harvey reference leopard mode too)
