CTLance: Had the same problem as you guys. I found out that the game isn't really multicore friendly. Once I set the affinity of the main executable to only one core the cutscenes started stuttering, but the Training Dummy and Fight Minigames worked as intended.
So, if you have this problem, start the game.
Now open the the Task manager (CTRL-SHIFT-ESCAPE or however you like).
On the Applications tab, rightclick Chaos on Deponia and select "Go To Process". This will switch over to the Processes tab and highlight deponia2.exe.
Rightclick deponia2.exe, select "Set Affinity...". Another window will open up. Check only one of the CPUs offered here and click OK. You're done.
To undo, exit and restart Chaos on Deponia or go through the above steps again, only this time choosing "<All Processors>" in the Affinity popup window.

I tried your suggestion on a PC running Windows 7 Professional and it didn't work. I also noticed that the cutscenes weren't affected.
Is it important where the saved game is loaded? Do I need perhaps to load a saved game that was saved before the malfunctioning mini-game was ever loaded?
