Hello everyone,

I've just reached this place in Deponia, where Goal is on the car, and I'm parked in front of three colored levers, and in front of me there is some kind of a map.

Now I figured I must mess around with the levers to change the path that the car is going to take. But the levers aren't working. I click them and just nothing happens. There are switches underneath the levers, using them seems to change something on the map, but I guess that's not everything, since the levers aren't changing anything.
And if I click "take off" (I guess that's the English translation, I'm playing the German version) I see the maze, and the car moves for a little while, until it reaches the first green checkpoint, then It disappears and nothing happens.

I tried looking on the internet but other people seem to be having different issues here.

My OS is Windows Vista 64-bit, if that might help.

Suggestions are much appreciated.

This question / problem has been solved by Ritualistoimage
If you push the levers the smale symbols (white-red ones) near the red, green and yellow symbols should change a bit. Here is the solution if you just want to progress in the game.

Spoiler! Spoiler!

yellow lever down
red lever down
green lever up
left switch to the center (green light)
right switch to the right (red light)

And here is a youtube walkthrough for this part in german:

Hello Ritualisto, and thanks for the reply.

What I have seems to be more of a gameplay bug, because nothing happens when I push the levers, nothing on the control panel changes. And when I click "losfahren" I see the car moving on a track as indicated on the control panel, but it disappears as soon as I hit the first check point, and then the whole game just freezes.

In the video the guy is using the levers and the switches, and the panel changes correspondingly. And then he takes off.

I read on the internet that people have had problems with this particular chapter, specifically when the cut-scene starts playing, but if they skip the cut-scene everything is ok.

Do you think I should contact the gog support team and ask them what I can do to get rid of the bug?

Again, I appreciate the reply :)

Are you using the latest version of the game. A new update for Deponia was released end of last year on Steam and start of this year on gog.. Perhaps this will fix your problem.
You could also try to repair your game with GOG Galaxy. Use the repair option (behind the more button). If this doesn't help you should write to GOG support.

Viel Glück!

Yeah I bought this series here on gog not long ago, so there cannot be a major update that I don't know of.
Anyway thnx for the help, I'll see what I can do, and report here in case I found out anything new.

Hey Ritualisto,

I have contacted the Daedalic support team, and they have redirected me to their savegames page, where I downloaded a save game file right after the buggy part, and can now make progress.

They said they were working on fixing this bug. I hope it gets fixed soon.

Thanks for your interest anyway :)

P.S. Now if you'd please reply with anything so that I can mark your last reply as a solution :P

Anything. :D

P.S.: Nice to hear that you are now able to progress in Deponia again. One of my favourite games out there (see my avatar).
Yeah, I remember when this game came out this puzzle was impossible to solve for some people including me. There was a skip button for puzzles, but it's nice to hear they try fixing stuff.

EDIT: Oh, so it still happens to some people, even that long after release... maaan, they better step up their programming and me reading posts in threads...

This is still an issue in 2024

malahaas: This is still an issue in 2024
Devs do it in strange way. Fix issues in engine for one game, broke it back, fix in another game...
At one point. Deponia 4: Deponia Doomsday is most latest release. At other point there was respective 3.3.x updates incl engine update come to older games after and much after Deponia 4 latest uldate. There is also 4.x updates on Steam for some of Trilogy, GOG version waaay outdated (there is on Steam even Developer commentary DLC for Deponia 1 out of The Complete Journey commentary feature).
And this much recent engine+game updates, come about 4 years ago bring back old engine bugs fixed previously (rendering and settings issues, in ConfigTool and game).

GOG versions outdated. Lack of some features. But i cant guarantee Steam version are better. Deponia TCJ remaster worst of them all, at least Steam version full of bugs and missing features (localisations). I didnt test very latest updates on Steam (TFJ stuck in 2015 build, never get any hotfixes for real). Maybe there is some hotfixes for 4.x update (of Deponia trilogy separate games). In that case GOG version itself an issue. Subj issue can be fixed there.
But if Steam versions remain the same as they was when i last time check them about 4 years ago - GOG version is superior staying on non-latest builds.
Its not the mandatory that most up-to-date application are always better. Never was.

For me. Original trilogy are bugs-free, unlike The Complete Journey remaster where i faced non-critical gameplay bugs or missing text strings. TCJ remaster on Steam. I said again, GOGs was bugs-free for me.
For example i faced Rufus able to go close to Organon soldiers. Maybe some achievements trigger didnt recognized correctly (idk, some are bad designed).

According to video sequences framerste game(s) designed to be played in 23 FPS. Maybe try limit/forced them to work in 119. Make sure it is not limited/forced/unlimited any higher. Turn off absolute Vsync/Gsync/any/any enhancments features entirely whenever there is such options (starting from system video driver and display driver/OSD menu settings).

Daedalic games by default start in windowed mode and there is op5ion called Fullscreen which is not Fullscreen but Full-screen Borderless windowed mode. That mean every display settings getting from Desktop. Including frequency and framerate. Frequency is not and never an issue. As i said make sure game limited at least to 119 FPS. Maybe 59. There is visible rendering issues and/or input issues (inventory clicking issue) on higher FPS.
FPS can broke game entirely. As every else game.

Maybe better make game work in native Fullscreen. That possible from manually editing the config file. Windowed kinda buggy for Daedalic games engines.
There is also known bugged Texture (de-?)compression option feature in ConfigTool.
Or check PC Gaming Wiki all articles about all Deponia games - there is more known Engine/ConfigTool bugs some never was fixed.

Make manual saves and backup to differ saveslot. Using auto/continue/quick save features can lead you in softlock issue or save you behind some mistakes.
Try reload differ saves. I mean after launch the game to to Load menu and load one outdated backup save. Then go to Load menu and load needed one save. Or do that from New Game (tutorial stage).
At other point maybe better load needed save in first place. Point is, that Continue loading can be an issue and quick save - quick load function usually in games do what they called - quick reload of earlier stage. It did not really reload every assets and sometimes bugs with triggers can happen.
