So - completed the game, and saw that the GOG.com version had an official mod available: Super Space Defenders. I thought, why not, this looks like fun.

Downloaded the mod. Loaded up the game. Clicked on "Mods" in the bottom right hand corner. Selected "Install from Zip," and navigated to the mod to select it.

And... nothing. It's just sitting here, saying "Installing Mod..." It's not locked up - I can press Cancel, and go back to the main game. But it's taking forever to load the mod; it's apparently still chugging along after ten minutes, which is bizarre for a 22 Mb package.

So, my questions are:
- Do I just... need to wait longer? Thirty minutes or more? (It's still going as I submit this.)
- Is there some preparation I need to do to the zip file first?
- Failing installing it through the game, is it safe to manually install the mod?

I've never tried that mod but, according to what is written here, I suspect that it only works with the original version of the game (which is included on GOG as a extra) and not with the updated HD version. This may explain why it's not loading.
