Okay, so I've just now arrived in Karsk. I'm given the option to recruit Rangers. I select to do so, change the name, select Hire, and confirm with "yes". But then the game acts like I selected No and won't allow me to add any Rangers. I have plenty of scrap, 536, and the game tells me that the new recruit costs 270.

I currently have 4 Berserkers and the one Ranger that I was given.

Does anyone have any idea what the problem may be?

That's.... very strange. Has anyone else experienced this?

The only thing I can really suggest is the classic IT response, "Try turning it off and on again." If that doesn't help, I'll try to reproduce it after the Holidays and find the underlying error.

I found a workaround. Apparently, the cause of the issue had to do with customizing the character before purchasing it. If I allowed the default settings (name, etc.), I could purchase the Ranger and then edit it afterward on the party screen. I'm going to guess that this bug slipped through the way it did because after the next battle Karsk is burned to the ground and no purchases can be made from it anymore.
