I just bought the game and am quite happy with it, but I remapped the controls and when I exit and restart the game they keep going back from "custom" to QWERTY.

Have any of you experienced this ?

I have the latest version from GOG.

The game doesn't save your settings until you hit the overworld, I might need to make it more aggressive about saving configuration changes in a future patch. See if that helps?

Yes that works. I have tried it and it saved my custom buttons on reload.
Thanks for the tip.

I think for a future patch it would make more sense for the game to save my configuration changes when I exit the settings page.

That seems like a no-brainer, no idea why I haven't done that yet. Next time I touch the source I'll try to fix it so it synchs the config settings on options menu close.

This keeps happening to me randomly and is becoming a real pain in the butt. I make sure to apply the changes when I'm on the map but even then it sometimes won't save there. I'm playing with the latest patch so I really don't know what to do. Is there a config file somewhere I could fiddle with so I can makes the changes permanent ?

Yep, go to the save screen and click on the folder with a wrench on it. That'll take you to where the config file is stored.
