Does the Mac version have the same issues? Has it been updated also?

Well, this AIRless build combined with the demo won you at least one additional sale. Congrats.

Now I'm off to ponder the placement of my rangers and stuff.
I don't think I've uploaded a new mac build to the GOG servers yet. I will try to do that Monday.

JudasIscariot: Just thought I would chime in and let you all know that this version does NOT require you to install Adobe AIR.
Thank you for the info. ^_^
After I installed Defender's Quest version "2.8.0.13" it still has Adobe AIR installed. The "Adobe AIR" folder is found in the game's own folder. Does that mean there never was an "Adobe AIR-less" build of the game? I don't really like Adobe AIR and I was really hoping this game would use another engine like Flash.

thats sad cause i just played the demo and wanted to buy it, of course without ET phoning home that is :D
so my question is: if i buy it now, will i get the game with or without ET phoning home? i like ET but without the phone.
The demo did install latest air version, can i remove that air or will it invalid some adobe applications like the free acrobat reader?
Please inform me.

I've never played the demo version of Defender's Quest. I've only played the GOG version and apparently that has some version of Adobe AIR that's located in the game folder. I don't understand how they can call this an "AIR-less" build when Adobe AIR is still there.

If you don't use Adobe AIR for anything else, theoretically it should be safe to uninstall. I don't think Adobe Reader uses Adobe AIR, but I use Sumatra PDF instead since it loads much faster.
If you read again what the dev said:

"1) Provide a simple flash projector (ie, one executable file and a folder with dependent assets). This will come at the cost of removing certain features from the game - namely, your saves will be stored as (fragile) flash cookies, you won't be able to change the resolution from inside the game, and you won't be able to get auto-updates.

2) Provide a "standalone" Adobe AIR build - this gives you the features of an Adobe AIR build, but without installing the AIR framework on your computer. Instead, it packages all the Adobe AIR dependencies in .dll files and makes them available to the game that way. Everything gets packaged up in a single folder and you just run the game's executable. So, the game still gets the expanded features, but without having to install the actual AIR runtime on your machine. This also creates a "portable" installation - ie, the game is just a zip file you decompress, "installing" it doesn't even touch your registry. This would still allow us to deliver a game that has extra features, namely, saves stored as real files, in-game resolution switching, and an auto-updater that detects and fetches patches if you want them.

Which do you prefer?"

You see that using flash would also mean missing features and most people here preferred a "stand alone air" version of the game which I supposed is the one contained in the game's folder.

i understand,
i think i read somewhere that air can also be used for application creating and flash is more limited then air
The fact that flash is fragile and easy expoitable is a welknown fact.

edit: just bought it and downloading it

i also saw the site for defenders quest II, it looks great from the screenshot they have showed so far.

I'd love to see a response to this from Level Up Labs or GoG.
Inquiring minds want to know :-)
