larsiusprime: Yeah, I think with the current build of the game, this is the best it can do.
That said, we're going to fix this issue for sure in Defender's Quest 2. Not only will the game be able to resize the game window and use high-res, HD-ready assets, but we should have a less janky resolution detection system, too.
When the new engine work is done, theoretically we could re-release Defender's Quest 1 with these features, but that's going to be a long ways off from now.
Thanks for looking at this,
Actually, I've discovered that if I ignore the display settings altogether, and just click Fullscreen and Scale (under Video), it fills the screen vertically, and my headaches have stopped. :) No slowdown noted, and it's *so* much easier to see.
I can
not remember the last time I was this addicted to a game. Well done. I love the Bonus and Challenge levels (hint, hint for DQ2) and keep going back to try new strategies, long after I've beaten them. You guys seriously rock. and this is coming from someone who played his first PC game back in 1982 on a TRaSh-80!
Truly, an amazing game. I'll definitely be pre-ordering the sequel.
