Well, I played around on the first level only with the 7 classes, and so far, damn this game is good. There are small gameplay spoilers ahead, don't read if you want to discovers things on the beginning of the game by yourself!
You can choose between 7 classes, with there starting equipment - a soldier will begin with a Greatsword, when a Noble will have a Halberd and some usefull items. There is a skilltree which is the same for all classes, except for the very first skill which will differ: the soldier will gain more mana while blocking, the assassin while dodging.
You can change some pieces of equipment: weapon (you can have 2 of them), helmet, cape, boots, shield and aura (things that can add some bonuses, sometime with a counterpart).
Sometime you will find Tomes of Aptitudes for you character, or buy them, and equip them on the Death Shrines (no sure about the name of it, they are the equivalent of the Dark Souls' Bonfires). I think the Tomes of aptitudes you find are dependent of your starting classes. But these Aptitudes are dependent of the weapon you are using: If you use a Greatsword, you will not be able to use Longsword Aptitudes, you will have to equip one on your secondary weapon slot.
You heal with Phoenix Feathers, each time you die you lose one and have to go back to take it back, or buy it back at a shrine if you can't reclaim it where you lost it on your death. But, on the shrines, you can choose to use Feathers to increase you damages: each Feather you use for that increase by 10% your damages, but will not be available to heal. One of the great ideas of this game.
After you beat a boss, you can come back and beat a Heroic Version of him, far more stronger. And there is a chest on the first level, after a mini boss, which can be opened only if you did not use a healing item from the last shrine. Speaking of bosses, on thelevels there are hidden books to find, which in a few lines explain things on teh boss you will face, and increase your damages on this boss for 10% - there are 2 books for each boss.
To conclude, a funny thing: on the very beginning of the game, you meet Death, and sign a pact with her. It's written on a sheet of paper, on your inventory. Well, it appears you can END this contract, and return human. If you do so, you will have one life, like any human, and your save will be erased if you die. GENIUS.
Oh, and by the way, the game is Gorgeous. Animations, the drawings of characters when there are dialogues, are splendid. And except for your character, the NPCs speaks. I mean, they have voices, which is a surprise for this kind of game. And music is great to.
Anyway, I can't wait to return to play and discover things, I have been waiting for long for this one, and I am no disappointed at all.
Thanks to the devs, and thank to GOG to choose to release it here!!
