Are achievements working for anyone on GOG? I can't even see any of them, but it says game supports them.

Same here.
The game was updated on GOG today, but this only includes bugfixes etc. previously released on Steam. Since I still can´t see the achievements list, I´m assuming achievements are still non-functional in the GOG version.

Someone in the thread about incomplete GOG games ( https://www.gog.com/forum/general/games_that_treat_gog_customers_as_second_class_citizens_v2 ) mentioned that a couple of people have already contacted the devs regarding the missing achievements and they haven´t gotten a response yet. If you´d like, you can contact the devs via contact@acidnerve.com . Please be polite and remember that Acid Nerve is a two-person studio - that´s not meant as a defense for the studio, I´m just saying even if they´re planning to fix this, it might take them some time due to limited resources.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/894020/discussions/0/3062995463270212746/ has a response from the devs:

Sorry if you emailed and it slipped by, it's been a busy week.
GOG build is just a DRM free version, up until launch I didn't even realise GOG had achievements, I thought it was specifically for DRM free builds. I've updated it today with the latest patches, but achievement integration is not there yet. I'll look into adding this in the next few weeks.
Not trying to be a bitch about it, if you care about achievements, by all means, fight the good fight. Still, it's baffling to me that some people downright consider games missing achievements to be "incomplete"... the dev's response is basically in line with what I feel: GOG versions are DRM-free, that's supposed to be *the thing*, even as devs are concerned. If you want chievos, you go to Steam -- even if some GOG games have them, as well --, if you want DRM-free, you go to GOG -- even if Steam has some DRM-free titles, too --, simple as that.

I'd buy a DRM-free title with no chievos over one filled to brim with good ol' pats in the back for finishing a tutorial that has DRM any day, so, yeah, I'm not exactly impartial in this. Still, if chievos do come to this game, good for you who fought for "complete" games on GOG.

I totally agree, achievements are pointless (unless they have gameplay effects like with Pillars of Eternity 2). I finished Death's Door without any achievements and I don't feel my gaming experience has been diminished in any way - it's still a great game!

But I can also understand the arguement that if we let the little things slide, then more and more devs might get it into their heads that it's perfectly fine to release incomplete games on GOG. That's how we end up with games with cut multiplayer features or games which aren't even updated properly on here...

On a side note, I'm pretty sure the Death's Door store page listed achievements under "Game features" until very recently. So even though I personally don't care for achievements, I get why people who do care for them might feel like they've been mislead.

Oh, absolutely; like I said, if achievements are a big thing to some people, by all means, ask for them. I just think calling a thread "incomplete games on GOG" and putting games in there just because they don't have achievements (when most of them don't even feature gameplay-inlfuencing chievos, which, like you said, I'd consider somewhat inferior to a version with those same achievements) is borderline aggressive and offensive both towards GOG and the devs/publishers.

As for the "if we let the little things slide, then..." argument, well... let's just say it's not really something I like to concern myself with for reasons.

Nobody is putting games on that list just because they do not have achievements. Game had Achievements as a feature listed, it was removed after the latest update. That's the issue. Even tho, I would like to flex with umbrela achievement

Nice website, I think I'll bookmark that one, for my own edification :D
While I need to point out that games not getting updated properly or having content like multiplayer cut out from their GOG releases is by no means an "extreme hypothetical" (I'm sure you've seen the lists), you are certainly right that we have no hard proof which clearly demonstrates that the one kind of behaviour (not implementing achievements) directly leads to the other kind of behaviour (i.e. not providing updates). The argument assumes that people/corporations MIGHT (see my original wording) not improve their bad behaviour and MIGHT exhibit even worse behaviour unless you push back on it, based solely on personal or historical experience with people/corporations. So you're right, the argument is indeed logically unsound.

Regarding the point of calling a game with missing achievements "incomplete": I agree that some people can be extremely aggressive, pushy and even downright offensive about stuff like this, but I'd argue that it's still justified to call a game released without achievements on some PC storefronts "incomplete" if the same game is released on other PC storefronts with achievements. The game might be incomplete in a way that doesn't bother you or me personally, but it's still lacking features that other storefronts offer, that are important to some people and that could be easily added since GOG Galaxy does offer achievement functionality.

To give you another example: The GOG release of Chains of Satinav only includes English text and voice acting, while both the Steam version and the original boxed copy also feature German text and voice acting. Since the game was made by a German company and is based on a German pen & paper RPG, German native speakers like me might prefer to play it with the original German script. So we would consider the GOG release "incomplete" while people who don't speak German might argue "this doesn't impact gameplay, so it's not incomplete", since they don't want to play the game in German in the first place.

Great point. This is true, I'm not even a German speaker and I couldn't agree more that Chains of Satinav, being made by a German studio, being part of Das Schwarze Auge pen & paper media, without German audio and text options is indeed an inferior product. Does it affect me, personally, as a non-German native speaker? No, gameplay-wise, it wouldn't add anything that could benefit me, but I'd still appreciate the option to at least have German audio with English subtitles, for a more respectful and faithful experience.

Anyway, my minor complaining aside, if Death's Door does indeed get achievements on GOG, all I can say is that I'm genuinely happy for those who want them. Giving more options to people is NEVER a bad thing.

Hey all, I've just updated the game with patch 1.1.2b and this should now have achievements working, all achievements you've gained while playing are stored in the player's save data anyway so when you get to the save select screen it should unlock all your achievements you've earned there.
Hey there, thanks a lot for adding achievements on GOG and for being very dilligent when it comes to updating the game here as well! I sincerely hope you didn't receive too many impolite or pushy messages about this.

The game is brilliant and judging by the ratings I have seen so far, I hope it will turn out to be a great success for Acid Nerve, you definitely deserve it!

BTW: Just in case you'll want to post something on the GOG forums in the future and want people to be able to recognise you as part of the dev team, you can contact GOG support to have them mark you as a dev for this game, which will highlight your text in gold.

I just wanted to thank you guys for making Death's Door. Seriously, you guys rock, this is one of the best games I've played in a while, I really missed playing titles like your game.

Also, kudos for supporting the game here on GOG; like I previously said, I don't particularly care about chievos, but I'm not gonna lie, it was cool unlocking them when I booted the game up, earlier today, to go roam in the excellent post-end world and max out whatever I can.

As previously mentioned, you can contact someone at GOG to get the dev orange text update here (kind of like our little Crow's fire spell) in the forums.

Thanks for the kind words! And no problem, it wasn't too difficult to get the achievements working, thankfully GOG made it quite straightforward for us developers to add.

I'll contact GOG and try and get my shiny developer status for any future posts, thanks for the tip!

Thanks for this, team. I will buy your game NOW. You deserve respect for treating GOG user how first class citizen.

Thank you very much!
