I gave this info about problems back in Sep. 2020 when I added the changelog ...
seems to be that no one reads the changelog file except me ... ;)

Concerning the problem the old version runs, the new on can be configured and exited - but not started
(so only a minor issue ... well, not quite ;).

I wrote a mail to Support@rocketcat-games.com but without any feedback ... so I will try it again.
I could provide the old game to GOG to present a working version at least - but GOG seems to be
no longer responding in any way but taking even a hostile position towards Linux gamers.
I think that knowing a bit and explaining how one could change the situation (making games run, using OSEs etc.)
is not the way to address GOG.

So if that attitude changes I would be happy to give to working version to GOG - my support ticket of Feb 10, 2021
about the many problems concerning Linux and a lot of easy things to solve several problems for all Linux gamers
has got the same feedback as the mail to the devs.
As other developers react in hours I think that tells the entire story. It is NOT Covid-19 - that is just a mere excuse.

So I am not stopping trying to help ... but I would not bet on a positive feedback or even help ...
maybe someone should build up a game shop in Europe which does not ignore Linux gamers (or better:
non-Windows gamers) but instead concentrate on real support and making games run natively.

After my experience a Steam share for Linux of 1% is really high concerning the bad support of
native Linux games and the poor knowledge about fixing bugs (as most problems are shared and are discussed
on Steam as they are on GOG) - and GOG got just a shadow of Steam - just rehearsing the old advertisement
statements without any meaning at all: like being DRM-free, home of gamers, supporting Ubuntu even on STSs
(after support page - which was said by GOG support to be not changed while GOG supporting only the version
given on the appropriate product page) ... well, not even that if a problem occurs ... just a pity. And this is stellar support!

Maybe I will present a tiny part of my experience on a thread which gets more fitting to my experience:
* https://www.gog.com/forum/general/boycotting_gog_2021
but with a deeper technical background - or opening a new one - but the current situation is not at all tolerable.
My GOG support ticket about his was marked as solved without any positive action from GOG Support, except for a standardised apology
This is *not* how you handle support tickets GOG!

Partially in response to my support request to GOG regarding this issue:

Update:
Changed download size - Installer, Death Road to Canada, Linux, en - 97.5 MB ⇒ 98.6 MB (+1.0 MB) 2021-03-31
Changed download version - Installer, Death Road to Canada, Linux, en - KIDNEY Update ⇒ HUMERUS Update 2021-03-31

I'm currently at work, so I can't test this right away, but this is supposed to be the last Linux version that worked properly.
Mind you this is 5 versions below the current version on Windows:
From DRTC Website:
11/4/18 HUMERUS Humerus Mini-Update - Bug and crash fixes
*update2*:
Tested on Ubuntu 20.04
I can confirm that this outdated version runs fine under Linux.

This may be a fault of GOG or the developer, since the dev. accused GOG of having trouble with their upload system.
I'm not sure who's to blame here, but I would appreciate an update from the dev on this matter.

Kepa-Rocketcat: Someone sent me an email about this. Looking into it over this week, likely another problem with how the upload process changes for us.
Dear Kepa-Rocketcat,

Any luck in solving the issue?
Through a support request GOG has rolled back the linux installer to the Humerus version for now, which can be played just fine.
Can you give us a time frame when the current version ("Liver" if i'm not mistaken) will be available to play on Linux here on GOG?

Thanks in advance for your answer

Anyone in the thread have Discord? Liver's ready to go. I'd like to make sure it runs on Linux + GOG for sure before launching it.
New Linux and Mac builds are up, along with Windows, for the LIVER update. I'll be hovering around for the next few days checking this thread for any problems.

Testing is a giant problem for the GOG builds, as we don't get forwarded issues and the player base here is too small to do wide scale beta build testing pre-launch. I'm hoping that more people here join our Discord or start sending me messages on Twitter, as contact is more immediate for me there and I can respond to issues without too much time passing

Hello! Thanks for your response here.

I am able to start the game now. Tested with a PopOS! (Ubuntu 20.04) VM. Hope it will on my gaming system too which runs Manjaro Linux. Usually not a problem. Thanks for fixing it!

That's strange, I can't seem to download it, it still shows the Humerus update.

Huh, you are right. Same here. But even so it works with it in my VM. Still does not work for you after reinstalling? Then it probably won't work on my gaming machine.

The Humerus update works fine (it was the last version that worked before the Kidney update), I was just wondering about the latest one (LIVER update),as it appears is still not available to download
Ah ok, didn't read the whole thread again. The LIVER Update is Windows only for now if I understand correct.

Thanks for downgrading to the Linux version which works fine ;-)
I understand that we will soon have the LIVER version.

LIVER is supposed to be up right now. Looking at it again, but I may have to send GOG an email about this if they've broken it on their end somehow

Edit: Yeah this doesn't make any sense on my end. I see the Window's version up on mine on GOG Galaxy, but not sure if that's because I'm a developer or not. Also, I don't see the patch notes up properly. I assume something is wrong or set manually on GOG's end, so I emailed them about this.

Apparently they only made it available via GOG Galaxy, the offline versions are not up to date so I can't download the Linux version of Liver.

@Kepa-Rocketcat: Thank you for your quick reply. Much appreciated,

That's typically GOG. First of all: Galaxy has never been released for Linux. Secondly: They did not bother to update their non-Galaxy version.
Hey GOG, Galaxy is optional, remember your solemn pledge?
So we Linux users are treated like second-rate customers not once, but twice. That's grand...
