Darklord666: Well, that's a bad comparison. Those games are already patched as hell ! DP is a very early game (as it comes to pc) and the company behind it is small. With a little investigation it should run on most PC's. I repeat, start-up issues are moslty user based.

That's not a good attitude to wine about a game isn't starting instead of searching for clues and trying the hints that are given. Often a re-installation helps cure problems.

After searching steam forums without finding anything I tried googling "DP doesn't start" in different combinations and I don't get any results. Give links, please.

EDIT: Ah, finally I found a topic about it(silly NEW steam forums). I wildly guess, that physx is the problem (if you own an Nvidia GPU). There is a link to Metro 2033 with a probable . <a href="http://www.gog.com/forum/deadly_premonition_directors_cut/if_you_havent_bought_this_already_dont/post13" class="link_arrow"></a></div><div class="small_avatar_2_h"><img src="/www/default/-img/newuser_big.png" width="16" height="16" alt="avatar" /></div><span class="quot_text"><span class="quot_user_name">Abram03: </span></span>It's also not a good attitude to accept a horribly bugged and broken product -- especially for 20+ dollars! And those are just a few. I don't understand why people defend GARBAGE like this!
No, I don't work for these people. I love GOG, especially because there's no DRM.
We have different opinions here and that's fine.
If this have been a major title or by a major company I would totally agree with you but access games/rising star games are small companies.
It was a well known fact, that the game has flaws and glitches and poor graphics. I accepted that and I like the game despite the problems.
It's usually a good idea not to buy a game short after release. But here I wanted to support small developers and GOG. because it's a cool service.
I read those links and there is in the end a solution and mostly PhysX.
Also, I wouldn't say the port is horrible. It's a 1:1 port. The XBOX-Version has problems too. Nothing is changed. Just the resolution should've been adjustable. That''s really missing here.

Say that if you like, but I've played the original, on xbox, and this IS worse. Different opinions, fine. And I don't think that ACTUAL game has bad graphics. I stand by what I said. This is a constantly crashing, terribly bugged piece of crap with glitched music and glitched cutscenes and no controller support (which is how it is intended to be played), and no one should buy unless something is done.

And the size of the company is NO EXCUSE. I've played plenty of games, small and large, and I've seen nothing as badly done as RSG's (the publisher, not the maker of the game) handling of this.

Played it for aprox. six hours nonstop today - no crashes and the like (under Windows XP). Regarding the controlls: if you managed to play Silent Hill 2 on PC with mouse and keybord back in 2003, this here won´t be any problem at all. It´s not very comfortable, it´s your typicall 1:1 console port - but its playeable for sure.

Strange - the game seems to like the old XP :)

Over the years I made the experience, that it is a good idea to stick to XP when it comes down to unstable titles like this. To vague to declare it a rule - but it works very often for me.

I play it on 7 for many hours without crashes(I'm in the middle of chapter 2). I just have to use compatibility mode for 7 (yes, strange) to avoid the freeze when moving a car.

I prefer keyboard+mouse (yeah, PC-enthusiast) and have no real problems with the controls. In SH2 the controls were better then here, I think (great, great game!)
