It looks like Deadlock 1 got an update in 2020 to fix Win10 issues, but it still doesn't work for me. It launches and the game sound is great, no more crackling. I can click past the videos, but when the main menu screen should appear, the app stops responding and the screen is black.
Deleting WAIL32.DLL prevents the hang, but then you lose the background music.

Is there something I missed?
Anyway, thanks for the update, it does make the game playable if WAIL32 is deleted.
And here is the fix that worked for me:

- Do *not* delete WAIL32
- Navigate to the game folder
- Find the shortcut called "Launch Deadlock - Planetary Conquest"
- Right-click -> properties
- Click the compatibility tab
- Select "Run this program in compatibility mode for:" "Windows 95"

Hit OK, the launch the shortcut. For me this launches the game with good sound and with good background music.
Thanks for listening, and thanks, GoG, so much for the Win10 patch....
Does not work I'm afraid!

I'm on Windows 8.1

Doing this DOES get me the main menu - MINUS music.

But NO "Start single player game", "Start single quick start", "Tutorial", "Load / Save" buttons.
They are greyedout and disabled!

NO GAME WORK!

"Start multiplayer" buttons oddly DO WORK...... but what's the point of that?
