Even if they only attack with 'guaranteed' chance to win, they didnt! They never built aircraft to ever attack cities, i never had to waste money or time on Turrets and that only made things easier=\ Seems like the GOG update fixed that though, at least in some campaign missions the ai has attacked me like a jerk.
A very good TBS game that allows you to rename your units is Civilization 3. My favorite of the series though all of them are good with some ups and downs.
I noticed that even on fair fight, the AI in deadlock 2 will often not attack at all.

I can usually leave my colonies completely undefended and have zero military units. The AI tends to not bother attakcing.

Does anyone happen to know which version the GOG one is? Is it 1.2?

Deadlock 1 uses patch 1.31 on gog, Deadlock 2 is patch 1.2. My normal experience with Deadlock is I have to restrict myself to a few territories to give the enemies a decent run. But for some reason with the version from gog, I noticed Tarth actually put together a mass of holocaust canon (4+?) to attack me. It was very impressive, compared to the usual few scattered units and lower tech attacks I've seen. Maybe it was just Tarth + plains, but I don't recall the AI doing that well against me playing Deadlock.

In the Deadlock 2 campaign, as Uva Mosk, I did get attacked. One level has the computer with much higher tech - you start out with nothing, and there's a few disruptor canon on the map! Good luck surviving an attack on a new territory against one of those! So if Deadlock 2 seems to easy, I'd recommend the campaign mode - hopefully it's not just Uva Mosk. It was very entertaining seeing uva mosk bonus + fast production bonus + map squares with enhanced production.
