Steam is $10, a DVD $12, Xbox $15, and GOG $20?

that does not compute
It doesn't make much sense. But then again right now it's cheaper than steam with the introduction price. So basically you just gotta be fast :-)
Well EA *had* to fuck it up somehow... no surprise here. Then they'll complain that DRM-free doesn't sell and cancel it.

Btw, anyone who has bought it can confirm it is actually playable without going anywhere near Origin or other EA ran servers?

Hi Torp,
I installed it on my Win 7 box and it runs like a charm. it works without network connection and I do not have any EA/Origin accounts, so I am pretty sure it is an "offline" version.

Regards,
Peter
Ah well, I bought it on the sale price against my better judgement.
No online requirements here. Same with Dragon Age: Origins. It still has the option to log in to your EA account, but it's not required and it doesn't add anything.
Now only if we can get the Mass Effect saga over here...I know, it will be a long time coming! (When EA is done milking it's fill of the series)
By the time this game was released on gog, over 95% of people who wanted to buy and play this game have already done it.

Price is like that due to DRM-free nature of purchase.
I've just snatched it. Let's see if it is anywhere as good as System Shock 2.

But yeah, higher prices on Gog are usually "DRM-free premia."
Well, I wanted to buy it right now because I wanted to play it again real bad, right now.
So at the moment gog is the best option with only 2,99€ for Dead Space. I just wonder why Dead Space 2 is not on gog.

Yes, you can argue about a lot of price issues. For example digital versions of titles being more expensive than retail versions, comparing prices on varous platforms, etc.; But in the end everyone has to decide for himself where they want to buy something or if it's worth waiting for a deal or having to buy something on release date.
So many things to argue and talk about, oh my gosh :) hihi
