I purchased a new laptop a couple of years ago and it's run every game I've purchased without any issues. I'm not trying to run them at the highest settings or anything, I usually just accept the default settings the game chooses. Been playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance, Horizon Zero Dawn, Red Dead Redemption 2, Bannerlord, Mad Max, Skyrim, L. A. Noire, and all of them have run flawlessly without any issues. I just bought and installed Days Gone and it runs terribly. The game stutters, and when I move the mouse to look around there's a noticeable slight delay before the movement happens which throws off aiming and it almost feels unplayable. My first thought was that the game probably has surpassed the specs of my computer but when I checked the "Minimum" specs for the game, I'm well above the "Recommended" specs which are:
Recommended Specs
Windows 10 64-bits
Intel Core i7-4770K@3.5GHz or Ryzen 5 1500X@3.5GHz
8 GB RAM
Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 (6 GB) or AMD Radeon RX 580 (8 GB)
DirectX: 11
My laptop specs are:
Windows 11 64-bits
ASUS ROG Zephyrus G14 Laptop
AMD Ryzen 9 4900HS
16GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 with Max-Q Design 6GB RAM
DirectX: 12
The only thing that I did differently with Days End was that I finally decided to download and install Days End using GOG Galaxy. I have always just downloaded the game files manually and installed them for all of my other games. The exceptions being Red Dead and L.A. Noire since GOG doesn't have them and they were installed by Steam.
So if anyone has any advice to help me make the game playable or has had similar problems caused by GOG Galaxy, which I didn't think would be causing the issue, please let me know. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!
**EDIT: Sorry for not getting back to this post until now but I did find a solution that solved my problem. As I said, this was the first game that I used GOG's Galaxy client. The problem went away when I deleted Galaxy and used the manual downloadable files which is how I've always done all of my previous games on GOG. I did uninstall and reinstall the Galaxy client and the game but still, the game was unplayable. With the manual files, the game plays fine. At least until I got the part when you attack Wizard Island. Now the game crashes every time on that level and at the moment I haven't been able to advance past that point.
