I can't attach a screenshot for some reasons. The JPEG is 1.7MB large and the upload limit is 2MB... strange....

It's 500000 bytes per attachment though. That error no longer shows up unless the file is close to individual limit (i.e. bug).

Did you read my reply? E.G.
ls -hs test*
1.6M test1.png
504K test2.png
Trying to attach test1.png shows no error. Which is a bug with GOG as the message still won't post.
Trying to attach a file that is only a little bit too big, test2.png, see attached.
That's what you should see for all files that are too large. There's also a maximum number of attachments per post, but I don't recall what it is offhand.
