at the start of the game, all you can do is rotate the charcater around and the mouse highlights the stuff like drag cgair etc but none of the movement keys work ASWD (or anything else) etc

Same here, but in Windows 10. The game doesn't seem to recognize one of my 2 keyboards, a gameboard, the mouse or the gamepad. Impossible to even start the game.
