I keep getting this error and I see that others have as well. Is there a work-around?

This game has been on my to-get list since, well, it came out. I didn't get it initially because Blizzard kept teasing us with DII release dates that got pushed back over and over and I didn't want to be without my $40 when it finally did come out.

So, yeah. I'm sure I'll have scads more errors as time goes on like everyone else, but for now it won't launch in compatibility mode as administrator in Windows 8.1 64-bit (nor in any other mode).

I have the same
problem when launching Darkstone. I'm using Windows Vista. I don't see a solution posted. Is there a way to fix this or is there a patch to fool the program so I can play the game? Thanks.

To fix the "Requires at least 50 MB of free space to run" error, try defragmenting your computer. It has worked the last couple of times I tried it. :o)

I think making any change to the hard drive (add or remove any file) will make it work again.

This is so dumb. GOG needs to fix this or take it off the site. Nobody can seem to get this to run and defragging the hard drive or wishing really hard doesn't work. I can't believe the lame fix suggestions that come across these forums. Learn how a computer works. For real. This is a programming glitch.

The game engine checks the amount of free disk space,
but can not handle more than 64GB of free space.
There are some solutions:

- Fill you Hard Drive until there is less then 64GB of free space
- Create a small partition (max 64GB) for games of this type of problem
- install Darkstone on a smaller partition (for example on D:\)
- Install on a pendrive
