i play darkstone using /www.gameranger.com and it works just fine and my user name there is schrapnel

GOG version works fine here for multiplayer. Vista running the host and XP joins it. No other software needed. Just had to select "Unblock" from the window that popped up behind the game screens on both Vista and XP.
