Everything works fine on this game except the text is unreadable. It looks like its been scaled down and lost definition in the process.I wonder if there's a correlation to be found from people who have this issue and those that don't.

I'm using an ATI HD4850 on Winxp 64 Proffesional on a 1080p Monitor (so it's widescreen).I have tried all the compatability setting and even tried putting my monitor in a none wide screen mode.I have yet to try altering my Gcard setting as theres a problem there too(didn't know till I tried to run Catalyst).

I have noticed another person has posted same issue but I think it might be in the general forum.

By the way post even if you don't get messed up font but have the same setups as me(above) if you can please.

I've got the same issue, on the same GPU by the way. But you're right, other people in the past complained about the texts being unreadable (on the CD version), with other graphic cards.

The solution I've found some time ago is to force the antialiasing and maybe anisotropic filtering in your GPU driver (putting them at maximum), or with 3d party tools (RadeonPro or ATi Tray Tools in your case). It should make all the biggest and most important texts readable. Smaller texts, like stats, small descriptions, spell names and characters biographies will remain almost completely garbled, sadly. But you can easily know what they're about thanks to icons, numbers or the manual.

Still, it's not particularly comfortable. A more efficient solution would be welcome!
I think, I found a solution, which i wrote in this threat: http://www.gog.com/en/forum/darkstone/illegible_text_in_menus
Excellent, it works! Thanks for this!

(I don't have to revert to the Basic Aero though, maybe because I don't use a pofile in ATT.)
nadmysel's link is down. What was his solution to the font? Any help is much appreciated.

Someone on the Darkstone forum has given a solution for a similar issue. It partly works with Soulbringer, even though the game retains this odd "stylish" blur around letters; it should become more legible anyway.

Download the ATi Tray Tools, launch it, right-clic on the taskbar icon, go to 3D => Additional Options => clic on Alternate Pixel Centers.
When you quit the game, unclic this option, otherwise other applications will get messy texts/textures (including Aero under Vista, which you should disable beforehand [Basic theme]).
There should be something similar for nVidia GPUs, maybe in RivaTuner?

Hope this helps!
This worked for me. The text displays properly now. Thanks to Darucas for posting that.
Worked for me too; kudos.
I had this problem with my ATI 4670, but yesterday I upgradef to 7850 and the problem was no more.
So what's the solution for nVidia? I'm having the same problem can't decipher anything on character creation screen.

I have some 3d settings in the nVidia configuration menu, but I don't know what each option means :( there's no "pixel center", and it's all in Polish though :P
