I've tried every last thing I can think of (including everything a nice guy at support told me to do), so I'm wondering if anyone else has their multiplayer working.

If you have it working, let me know if there's anything special you did.

If you don't have it working, let me know how it's not working.

For me, I can see the games. I use TeamViewer 7's VPN client to connect to my brother and I use just a LAN line to connect to another computer. But upon trying to connect, I get the "Error! Unknown Quests Module:" error. (by the way, I've tried: UAC off, every compatibility mode setting, anti-virus is off, fresh boot, re-install and re-downloads)

Please only submit if you are using the GOG version.

Thanks!

I'm pretty much in the same boat with TCP. No matter what I try, I've been unable to connect to a game using TCP. At best, I've been able to see a game running on a PC running XP and then get the "Error! Unkown Quest Module" error. Using only Windows 7 64-bit systems I haven't even been able to see a game.

The only way I was finally able to get a multiplayer game working was to use only PCs running Windows XP with the IPX protocol installed and then play the game using IPX. My guess is that anyone who is playing multiplayer on the GOG version must be doing it this way. Pretty disappointing since IPX isn't an option on Windows 7. The only way it might work is if there is some type of IPX wrapper/emulator that can be used. Either that or if GOG can do something about getting TCP working.

Edit/Update: I was right about an IPX wrapper. Just tested it and it does work on Windows 7. You do need to be sure to use the included registry tweak (either 64 or 32 bit version depending on your OS) because Darkstone uses directplay. Also, keep in mind that all computers connecting will have to use the IPX wrapper to play. I used version 0.3.4. Here's the link to the website for the wrapper: http://www.solemnwarning.net/ipxwrapper/

I tried this route as well, but I am just noticing I did the whole registry import incorrectly. I didn't read it was a registry import, I just saw it as a file to also drag into Darkstone's folder.

I'll give it a try next week (I'll be out of town for a bit) and give an update once I have it done. Hopefully this can fix everyone's problems!
yes, i use gameranger to play with a friend. works flawless.
I wanted to let you all know that I got it working with the IPX wrapper and Teamviewer's VPN service.

Thanks! Been having fun with it.
