There is no graphics fix. What you're getting is fairly unusual, though.

In a recent post, I wrote about some command lines that may be useful. I'm not sure if they will be, but if you're willing to try, one of these might help:

(I'd save just before the item is not appearing and then try loading with any or all of these command lines)

-triplebuffer
That will be sure that everything is rendered before being displayed. It makes a tiny lag between gameplay and graphics, but it's not noticable.

-zbufferinfinite
I'm guessing this draws the whole map and creatures always.

-stipplealpha
Not sure, but it could have something to do with it not showing up since the alpha channel is the invisible channel. You could give it a try.

-32bit
I'd have this on always anyway

-antialias
I'd also have thsi one on always
sounds like a good plan.

now how or what file needs editing?

The shortcut's path (under "properties" when r-clicked)

It should say C:\PATH\Darkstone.exe -32bit -antialias -triplebuffer -stipplealpha

to do them all
thanks!

tried them all. -32bit caused lock ups, the other 3 didn't help at all (individually, or combined).

This is a bit (or a lot) late, but this command line might help you: -sortbyz

That seems to fix a lot of issues concerning transparency.

Maybe you still have your save sitting on your HD and you're itching to play. If so, I hope that helps.
