I have 3 of the crystals so far and the indestructible Sword of Elvon. Is there any place I can put these items to keep them safe? I can't sell the sword, and I obviously need the crystals, but I don't want to keep them in my inventory throughout the entire game.

You can leave the crystals in the town. Just throw them on the floor, they stay there for ever, no one steals it. I tried it with several reloadings and map changes and the crystal are still there.

This is the key. Just leave the crystals where you port back using the Magic Door spell.
