It's more like.. Elite or X2, minus the heavy use of economics.
That said, I want to buy it as soon as I get my next check in. :3
The only downside I remember on it was a lack of 16:10 support. Has this been fixed? Or is it still 4:3 only? (They tried to implement support, but it crashed whenever you chose it.)

Ois: It's on my to get list. I rather enjoyed the demo, but never could find a retail copy.
The size concerns me a little due to local ISPs awful low caps and monthly limits. If a download fails, then: ack!
Is it just a single file, or is it split up like some other large sized games.

Cook: The game is really cool, our testers were staying late after the working hours just to upgrade the ship with another laser cannon :).
The game is spit in four parts.

You guys rule, haha.
And Ois, the GOG downloader would prevent any mishaps due to failing downloads, no?
I was introduced to a limited space trader sim on my palm pilot back in the day. I loved that game to death. This looks like what I enjoyed, except with graphics, storyline, and dialogue. Purchased!
Cool at Dark Star One joining the GOG Club.
If I recall, the disc-published retail version was published with StarForce.
It's great to see GOG picking up a game I missed that was published in the USA with StarForce -- especially since GOG is so about NO DRM.
GOG, you need to keep picking up more games that once had StarForce and re-release the game over GOG without DRM. :)
I'm definitely picking this one up. I wish I could get it now but my credit card no. got compromised so I had to shutdown paypal account and wait for a new card in the mail.

Well, it will stop any cut-outs in the connection and allow resume, but there is still a small (rather quite small) chance of it downloading incorrectly vs the md5. A single 4.3 gig file failing would really hurt since I have a 12 gig monthly limit.
Smaller (less than a CD sized) games, I have no concern about this on.
The GOGdownloader and the fact the game is split in 4 will help evade this, but I'll still need to get it over the course of a week or two to spread it out and allow the rest of the family internet access.
Enough so, that I'll most likely get it as soon as my final yearly pay comes through.

Thanks GOG, glad you released this one! I have been waiting for a copy of this one without Starforce. Cheers.

I think this one only came with táges, but i may be mistaken.
Patrician 3 :D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! THANKS!!!!!!!1
I've said this elsewhere in multiple threads but I'll say it here again: Well worth picking up if you are a space sim fan.
I have this game on disc and it's really good, not as good as Freelancer but still fun to play. The only thing I really don't like is that you only get one ship and some of the voice acting is pretty bad. I'm glad to see it on the site though.

My "Rule of Thumb" in reference to acceptable "bad voice acting" has always been video games, "B" horror flicks, and "adult entertainment."
For the most part, you aren't really there for the acting.
