This will happen if you have DEP enabled properly (all services and applications unless specifically excluded) and you don't add the DS1 executable to the list (DarkStarOne.exe).
The fix is just that; add the executable to your exclusion list and sigh at the sloppy coding and even sloppier QC that let this through before you go on to deal with the 1680x1050 bug.
