Can't even get game to run, goes to title screen then black and comes back to desktop with the error message 'uncaught exeption in loadmipmap which is followed by four similar error messages, any ideas?
Hardware specs?
Intel Core 2 Duo @2.13Ghz
NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GX2 (SLI) (1Gb) (185.85)
2Gb RAM
300Gb HDD
and a little plastic toy from a cereal box which sits on the monitor.

If you are getting this error upon running the game, right click My Computer Properties/Advanced/Performance/Settings/Data Execution Prevention/Turn on DEP for all programs and services except those I choose and Add the DarkStar One exe from your GOG.com Darkstar installation folder. Click Apply/OK.

This solution doesn't work for me. :-(
Neither running the game in administrator mode, compatibility mode, with reduced desktop resolution or changed *.dll files from the other solutions (I was getting a bit desperate).
Does have anyone a suggestion what else I could do?

Specs:
I5-2500
Windows 7 pro x64 (all updates installed)
GTX 770 (driver 344.48)
HP w2207 (1680x1050 native resolution)
Found a somewhat funny workaround. I had to do quite the opposite of what is the suggested solution, by changing the DEP settings from "all programs and services except those I select" to "only essential Windows operating system programs and services".

Now Darkstar One is working fine.
Sadly this fix isn't working for me on my Windows 7 64 bit. I've done dep, resolution change, deleted the dll, played with my resolution settings, run as admin, etc. All I get is a crash and then uncaught exception in LoadMipMap and the other 3 errors that come with it. Sad that this hasn't been fixed over the years yet. I'd advise people not to waste their money on this one. No support apparently.

This fixed my problem!!
