People, you who have beaten this game, please tell me, i REALLY have to know... What graphics settings did you have? Resolution, mostly...?

I got a game-ending bug in Karkinos fight, he has broken collision detection and the boulders don't have any effect on him when they hit him (i know the strategy and have beaten OLD DARKSIDERS 2). Even in the first phase when you have to hurl that boulder to awaken him, in the original it worked always on first hit, here i had to toss it on him TWENTY times for the animation to play and him to wake up!

As i have been reading, certain users, especially on Steam, had that problem. Some mention changing resolution, but for me, it didn't work! I want to play this game so badly, please, let me know your graphics settings? I am most interested in what resolution you played it in, as well as whether you had V-Sync on or not... I am going crazy, i want to play this game but i can't!

My monitor is 1920x1080, I have played 1776x1000 windowed, vsync most certainly on. I'm not 100% sure this was my settings for Karkinos fight, but it seem likely, I didn't fiddle with those two much in DS2.

Can't tell what rest of the settings were, at one point I was trying to fix the missing button textures by playing with them.

Ah good old Vigil Games, their bugs were sent by the charred council to enforce the balance; keeping humanity from becoming too powerful. Even after the downfall they still plague the world.

You're not going to like what I have to say, but I'm going to say it anyway. This goes to anyone who is having problems with the Karkinos fight.

If you have a problem with the boulders not waking Karkinos, you're going to have a bad time. If you eventually do manage to awaken him, and you remember how many boulders it took, that's about how many boulders it will take on average for the game to register a hit during the fight. Clearly at 20, the game becomes... masochistic.

This is caused by a bug in the game. By all means, report it to Nordic and they will send it to those responsible. If you do, make sure that you include things like your video card(s) make and model, driver version, OS version (natch), any sort of video monitoring or overclocking tools running, and it may be a good idea to put a copy of your save file away in a safe place in case they ask for it.

What can you do to progress in the meantime? Try disabling any video tools that you have. As a matter of fact, try running the system as clean as possible. See if that works. You can also try randomly upgrading or downgrading your video drivers to see if that helps. That's a fun game in itself and can last an entire weekend! (Pros: 40+ hours, great soundtrack, and interesting hi-def visuals. Cons: poor controls, confusing story, and the main characters are really annoying)

Lastly, if you're lucky to have access to another computer, try running the game on that with the copy of your save. After you beat Karki, head back to your computer, save file in hand, triumphant! If you do this, you will definitely want to save both versions of your savefiles for future *ahem* comparisons. You may have to wait who knows how long for a fix to your problem. The next time you play Darksiders II you may want to use the tried-and-true method of "educated save file editing".

Solved! At long last!

What i did, in case other people have the same glitch in their game:

1) Resolution set to 640x480.
2) Vibrations set to OFF.
3) V-Sync set to ON.
4) Nothing else changed or tampered with.

This time, FIRST boulder awakened Karkinos NORMALLY! And the next hurls worked as they should, mid distance, full force throw, target on shell or its sideways (not legs)!

Maybe it has to do with starting a new save file and purging the old one... Maybe not, i don't know! I tried 640x480 before with V-Sync on and honestly, i really doubt vibrations option tab has ANYTHING to do with this problem, even in the slightest...

At long last, i can finally savor the complete Darksiders 2 experience!

Don't mention it. Beware Arena, though... In my new game +, i was going for that secret mace reward (you have to beat all 100 waves in a row), but game crashed just after beating Argul, at 75. At this i ragequit.

Darksiders 2 the old one seems much more stable than Deathinitive, honestly, really...
