Hi!

Got into this game about a year ago, played it for about 1 month and now i picked it up again.

Anyhow after remebering that the combat sounds (especially) sounded like someone playing a piano and remembering a fix for it.
I scoured the forums and found the fix applied it and sure it sounds different but still sounds "unclashy" like. it doesn't sound like fighting. HELL THE ARQUEBUS SOUNDS LIKE SOMEONE FARTING ^^
like i said the fix made it "better" but not much better, there is a guy on YT who's game sounds much better.

i think the Youtubers name was nofair fight,

Hope any of you guys have some insight about this! :)

Thanks in advance

btw using soundblaster pro (later) in install utility with IRQ 7 because someone on the steam forums said this would fix sound (it didn't)
and yes the fix i applied is the one were you rename a couple of files the one that is a sticky post on first page.

Answering this in hopes that it will help somebody with the same issue, even as I guess the OP likely abandoned their concerns about this game long ago.

What worked for me was a slight modification of the instructions given by the sticky about sound in this forum, and by GoG's support article. I stumbled upon the solution in a discussion/thread about Darklands tips on rpgcodex. Instead of modifying all of the files mentioned, this is what worked:

-First, I removed my original "GoG Games\Darklands\DARKLAND" folder, by renaming it. If you don't care about any saves or customizations, you can choose to delete it instead;
-Next, I ran the Darklands installer from GoG;
-Next, the "almost-the-same-as-what-had-not-worked" part:
-Rename "PSOUND.DLB" to "PSOUND.DLB.old";
-Rename "PSOUND.DB" to "PSOUND.DLB"
(Optional: you may first want to make an extra copy of "PSOUND.DB" and rename it to "PSOUND.DB.OLD", in case this does not work and you want to retrace your steps)

That's all, the only two files involved were PSOUND.DLB" and "PSOUND.DB" instead of all of the ones mentioned in the fix offered in the mentioned Sticky.

FWIW, the settings from the [\...\DARKLAND\INSTALL] utility that worked with this were:
"Soundblaster Pro (later)", Speech Address 220, Speech IRQ 5, and Speech DRQ 1

I hope this helps somebody to enjoy the game better, with more "ting-clash-clang" in their combat!
