So I can change who the leader of the party is by pressing ctrl + F1, ctrl + F2 etc. (after remapping ctrl+F1 to no longer bring up the DosBox mapper) but it doesn't work with the fourth character for some reason. Is this a bug or have I missed something?

Hmm, maybe it is because it's already used by DOSBox? - http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Special_Keys
Try remapping it too. ;)
