ayoldguy1: Hi - I just downloaded Darklands... and there's no sound whatsoever. Any way I can fix this? I tried running install.exe from DARKLANDS directory but just says app not compatible (WIndows10)?
Thanks!
If your copy is from GOG I think the easiest way is probably to install DOSBOX separately, and use it to access the install.exe file. I use D-Fend Reloaded, which is pretty easy to edit.
In the main D-Fend window, you can right-click and edit the lone setup line that says 'DOSBox DOS'. Right now you probably only need to change the 'Drives' section on the left hand side: in that section, right-click the lone 'Folder/Image' entry, then 'Edit', and change the location to your GOG install (you can use the 'choose folder' icon next to the 'Folder for Mounting' entry field). Like, most of my GOG games are in D:\Games\GOG Games\ so I change it to that.
After that, say OK to the windows, then run the line you changed in the main D-Fend window. It'll go to DOS, and the 'C:' drive will be whatever folder you entered before. Then you can navigate to the folder that contains install.exe using DOS commands using that folder as the starting point.
I'm not sure how familiar you are with DOS, just say so if you're not.
