I noticed some topics about what graphic options to use for this game, but when I try to make changes in the Graphic mode setup program I get an error of "Error: Game not installed" when I try to save settings. Does it do this for everyone? I'd really like to try changing things since I find the text in the game really hard to read.

2 common solutions:

1) Be sure to "run as administrator"

2) Don't install this game to "Program Files (x86)" folder

I was able to make the text quite readable after following the above solutions.
I never install anything to the Program Files (x86) folder and running as administrator was the first thing I tried when it wouldn't let me to save changes in "Graphic mode setup". The problem was that for whatever reason the topics ended at "your favorite settings in the config utility? " for me yesterday, so I didn't see the topic about how you have to launch "Graphic mode setup" from the start menu instead of the folder to be able to save changes. Now it works. Still can't get text looking nice, but oh well.

If your issue is with the actual font, then I'm pretty sure you are SOL. You can reduce the "jaggies" on the text by going to the Advanced Settings tab in the DOSBox Configurator and change the Scaling Engine (then Save Settings). As an extreme example, try hq3x. If you don't see any difference with the text, then double check that you saved the settings. Experiment with the other Scaling Engine settings until you like the results.
