I consistantly get the game and its sound working better with the earlier version of .73

I have a disc copy of this game and just bought the gog copy ( I fully support this gam e heh )

So if gog can just replace the dosbox version they are using.......... it can save a lot of headaches.

The sticky does work, I suggest both the sticky and dosbox.73

I think it's a bit premature to switch to .73 just because you get it to run better in that. (Exactly what are the problems with .74?)

It runs just fine here with .74 and I think that's the case with the majority, otherwise I don't think GOG would have chosen .74 if it didn't seem to work well...

.74 is more likely to crash entering or leaving combat ( much like it did in .72 ) it also doesn't seem to emulate darklands sounds very well. The compatibility list suggest .70, but as I have had no problems with .73 I haven't tried it yet.

I only purchased the gog version to support the game, and to get the manual that does not come with cd version. So have been tinkering with darklands for oa loong time before it finaly came here. The game appears untouched by gog save the addition of goodies and dosbox.
The sticky at the top of this forum fixed all sound problems for me, and I've not had a single crash in the 10+ hours I've played.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but for the same reason you've not tried .70... I have had no problems with .74.
0.74 works fine for me. I've used 0.73 with other games but I ended up switching those to 0.74 due to graphical issues.

Is the likelyhood of a crash based on your own tinkering or is this something that many people have reported? If it's just your own observations (in majority) then *it is* premature to change the DOSBox version.

Been "tinkering" for a long time too. Never had any problems with the game after I first got it to run. But I do acknowledge that this probably isn't the case for everyone. Still, I think GOG is on top of this. And if they're not, well then this thread is here recommending people to try out DOSBox .70 or .73.
