Almost a straight copy-paste from the SimCity board. This applies to many games in Dosbox. This trick is meaningless in full screen mode, but very nice if running it in a window and checking out the pdf manual or something as you play.
Many games in Dosbox need to have the mouse locked to the Dosbox window to function properly. This is a huge hassle because you need to press Ctrl-F10 to unlock the mouse. Thankfully Darklands doesn't seem to be one of those, and can share the mouse as smoothly as a native Windows program.
To allow it to do so open dosboxDarklands.conf in a text editor and change "autolock=true" to "autolock=false".
--Edit--
You can still lock/unlock the mouse with this feature disabled by pressing Ctrl-F10. The only behavior changed is if it locks it automatically whenever you click the window.
