I preparation for playing this game again (hopefully I'll finish it this time) I had decided to create a character generator program to help me plan out my characters. Basically, what it does is build a character in the same manor that the game does but so I can make changes to the character mid-build instead of having to start over as one would in the game. I am using the cluebook for the limitations of the occupations, but I have found some of the occupations requirements appear to be incorrect. So far, the two mistakes I've found are these:

1. Peasant: The cluebook says "Characters can always be peasants unless either (a) they are 15-year-olds of noble or wealthy birth, (b)..." I start creating a new character, male, nobility, and don't change any stat, when the list of occupation appears, Peasant is on the list.

2. Peddler: The cluebook says "This occupation is available to 15-year-old commoners and anyone older." I pick male, nobility, no stat changes, and Peddler is available.

3. Hunter: The cluebook says: "Characters must have Woodwise 15+." I pick male, nobility, no stat changes (i.e. Woodwise 1), Hunter is available

Am I missing something?

I used the default party but it is worth noting that when the game was first released it had quite a few bugs so you could be on to something. Perhaps the cluebook describes what should be the case.
You are correct, the Clue Book is for "function as designed". It's meant to be used with the final released version, 483.07. However, that's not to say that PeterC2 isn't noting bugs that still persist up to and including that last release.

Cheers!
