Wait, do I need something besides just the .sh -file to play Darkest Dungeon?

Downloaded the latest .sh file for the basic game off the GoG page, Firefox first claimed it would be 1.8Gb (as stated on the game page) but FF eventually claimed completion at 973Mb, is it supposed to do this or was the DL somehow fragged? Additionally, though I marked the file as executable, it seems to do nothing even though I right-click on it and tell it to run which is how the previous Linux installers from GoG worked for me... Am I just missing something, as a beginner Ubuntu user?

No, the solution proposed here provides mostly a better integration with your system for the game.
You can install the game without using it, and it will play just the same.

The installer should be a 1.8G file, your download is most likely incomplete.
This is one of the advantages of using ./play.it scripts to install your games, they check the installer integrity before processing it.
