The update is for the beta branch :)

What does this effectively mean?

They released it as beta test on steam.

Once they are confident with the modifications (gameplay, stability, etc ...) it will be released for everybody as an actual release.

Edit: more than 1 day later and still no patch. It's a shame. You will really have to improve that. I easily understand steam users sometimes.

The new patch is out. The Galaxy client just updated DD to version 13870.

avira antivir lists the newest update as trojan: TR/Crypt.EPACK.Gen2

Crypt, hm? Looks like avira's heuristics picked up a pattern in the patch. It would surprise me if that wasn't a false positive.

Though changelog states that new music composition was added to DLC, seems like it wasn't. I have re-downloaded darkest_dungeon_ost_flac.zip and darkest_dungeon_ost_mp3.zip and they are the same as before.
