Dark Reign 1
I've had this game for about four years (on disc and now uncompatible) and I've been thinking of purchasing it here (tweeked and compatible!) but all the years I played it I could never even get past the 1st camp mission on easy. I play RTS games all the time and consider myself halfway good at them, but this one eats me up. I can't find any walkthroughs on line only 'unit list'. I suppose I could just blow it off but I love RTS and every RTS fan in the known world seems to swear by this game, and I feel like I'm suffering some genetic abnormality that prevents me from enjoying it as much as everyone else. Any help out there? Links to help? Common things people do wrong when playing? Mom? Dad?...is that you?...OOPS sorry!

I've found the AI plays very similar to the C&C AI, so you can get away with building a few turrets at their common attack route and build up a massive army to steamroll. Also, do not neglect building a repair bay or two. Since you can set the AI to automatically run back and repair you can save a ton of money by building a few, since repairing in the repair bay is free. The way I'd manage this is when I started off with a control group I'd set their damage tolerance to medium, and then attack move everywhere. Once I noticed a few units break off I'd reselect the units on my screen (so that I don't give a new order to the ones repairing). When my attack force had dwindled enough I'd back them off and check the status of the freshly repaired units back at the base, and if they were all good to go I'd reselect the original control group and renew the attack.
