Dark Reign 2:
So the game installed and started up just fine, as i expect from the good folks a GoG...but then i realized the mouse / cursor didn't work, or worked completely sporadically. This makes the game rather unplayable and I'm wondering if anyone else is having issues like this?

just move it as slowly as you can and it will work.

i need a workaround anyway...

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I had exactly the same issue and the solution was to drop the polling rate from 1000 Hz to 500 Hz. This fix works at least for W7 64bit G500 mouse.
Having same problem with windows 8 thanks for the tip on fixing it i will give it a try
An alternate fix is running the game windowed. You don't get mouse edge scrolling that way though.

I had that problem too and I tried Helwooks's polling rate idea but it didn't work so I decided to experiment with his idea and lowered the polling rate even further to 125 hz and it was smooth as so my fix is that you keep adjusting the polling rate until it runs smooth for you.

Oh and i'm runningit on Win 8

May I ask where can you change this "polling rate" ? (I'm on Win 7)

Well I can't help you there because I have a razer mouse and I have never used a logitech mouse so I suggest going on google and look it up and make sure you type in exactly what the mouse is called and how to change polling rate and hopefully you should find somthing if you don't remember what the mouse is called justed type in logitech mouse and see what you can find.

I really sorry good luck.

No problem, I'll try to find something on the web !
Thanks for your help :)

Edit : 6 months later, it seems I found :D For people using a Logitech mouse like me, simply go on the official Logitech's page, select your mouse and then download (and instal) the software "Setpoint", it seems to be what is needed to adjust the polling rate.

Don't mean to spam but I'm reaching out to all my DR2 Fans! With hamachi we can now play multiplayer as if it was a lan connection. No need for Won. I'm looking to start a community of players for dark reign 2 online. The game is fun but 100 percent more enjoyable playing against other players. If you are interested just reply to this message and i'll get you on the list. IM eventually looking to get some servers up just for this game and the community but for now we can all use hamachi. I love this game and just really want to revive its online presence
ooh thank you Nightwing66, lowering the polling rate worked!
500hz is better than 1000hz already, but with a relatively fast swipe it can still stop sometimes.
125hz works perfectly :-)

edit: i just noticed that my "overclocked" mouse also works without issues.
it usually polls at 125hz, but i forced the USB port it's in to poll the mouse at 1000hz.

my guess is that the game can only handle a limited amount of counts per second, because this mouse is only ~439cpi.
if i use a mouse with 800+cpi and 500+hz, suddenly the game is having trouble again - but there only seems to be trouble if i move my mouse around a bit quicker.
maybe that 125hz with extremely high cpi could also cause issues.

weird little issue that i haven't seen before, even in older games :-)

Thank you! This is what I needed. Polling stuff didn't work for me, but in windowed mode everything is perfect.
how can i start windowed??
