Dark Reign ended up just CTD'ing on me randomly today after having worked fine for a week. So I tried to reinstall, only to be met by this new error: Installation failed (E4) Disk access error occurred during installation.

What can I do now?

Edit: Remembered I could just download it through the site without using galaxy, and that fixed the issue.

Edit 2: The community patch now no longer works. The launcher just closes without launching the game, and the game can no longer be launched by any means.

Guess I'll never be playing Dark Reign again. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I just picked up the game on sale and had the same installation error. I noticed Windows Defender kept popping up a warning every time I tried to run the install again. It had flagged the install file as a trojan horse virus. Allowed it and tried again, installation completed! I tried opening it up and was able to play the game, so all seems to be working.

The exact file in question: Win32/Wacatac.B!ml

Hopefully I didn't install an actual virus :D but this was downloading straight from GOG Galaxay.

Settings - Installing, updating

- Temporary game update folder: Save into game installation folder
- Other downloads folder: Save into game installation folder
