I click on the short cut then I get asked about letting the launcher change things. I click on yes but then nothing happens.

I also tried opening GOG galaxy going to Dark Reign 2 and clicking play. After a few moments I'm allowed to click play again but the game doesn't start. What's going on here?

Edit: Just to be clear I already tried Windows XP, Windows 7, and Windows 8 modes but it still doesn't work despite running fine on my old Windows 7 machine

No w10 compat, that's why. Tried the same here many times but it worked on a win7 machine for me. Period. Great game though.
Run in Windows 7 compatibility, Disable fullscreen optimizations and Run this program as administrator should do the trick
Ok now I have a Windows 11 computer and it isn't running even in compatibility mode. It says something about an entry point missing when I try running it in win XP compatibly mode as an administrator.
I can play DR2 on my Windows 10 laptop just fine, the only problem I had was that it kept asking me to put the CD in the drive, the solution to that turned out to be not running the game in Galaxy, but going to the folder where it's installed and running Launcher.exe, not the shortcut or dr2.exe
