I'm playing DF2 Directors Cut at the moment and will definitely buy Lost Souls afterward. Is there a Dark Fall link (no matter how tenuous) in BH or Rhiannon? (i think it was called).

Thanks for any help.
There are Barrow Hill easter eggs in The Lost Crown, i think, (maybe in Lights Out as well ?), though those relate to Jonhatan's colaboration in Barrow Hill (and i think Matt Clark also did something in The Lost Crown, i'm not sure though)

But if you mean a link in terms of the stories i'd say no. Dark Fall games were done by Jonhatan Boakes (Darkling Room), Shadow Tor Studios (Matt Clark) did Barrow Hill and Arberth Studios did Rhiannon: Curse of the Four Branches.

Barrow Hill revolves around Celtic lore, legends, myths, druids, magic. Rhiannon revolves around the Mabinogion, which is basically a collection of Welsh and Celtic stories, more precisely it revolves around the 'The Four Branches of the Mabinogi' which are mythological stories, and a part of the Mabinogion. Both games take place in present time though.

Thanks for the info. Do you recommend the Shadow Tor games? I can't get enough of horror \ adventure games at the moment.

By Shadow Tor it's actually just one game, if i got right, Barrow Hill. Braken Tor is in the works and on Iceberg Interactive its release date is showing up as TBA. I think i saw April 2011 mentioned somehwere as release date but with so many games and so many dates its a bit hard to keep track of everything ;)

In regards to Barrow Hill, i played a long while back and i did enjoyed it. The mechanics suited me fine, since i tend to prefer this kind of game as first person and lonely exploration, as did the themes used for the plot, i'm a sucker for legends and stuff, and when they revolve around Celtic lore it's even better. Actually, been kinda waiting to see if gog would land it here to play it again but it's taking a bit too long so one of these days i'll probably give my old copy a go.

If the theme interests you and you're into adventures right now, definitely, give it a go, it's definitely worth the 9$99.

Thanks again. It will be my next game i think, after DF 3. I'm sure you don't care but i forgot to make this a question thread so i can't scatter a few rep points upon you fairy style, sorry 'bout that! Cheers.

You're welcome, i hope you'll enjoy both Lost Souls and Barrow Hill.

Oh, and don't worry about the virtual cookies ;)
Braken Tor was originally listed - and advertised with full-page adverts in magazines - as November 2010, so clearly it's slipped a bit!
It did slip a bit, here it is.

can't wait for jonathan's next title " the last crown" a sequel to the "lost crown", I beleive it will be around easter time but then we all know about quoted release dates.
Bracken Tor was pushed back to September apparently.
I started Barrow Hill for the first time today and finished about 5 minutes ago.

It has a very similar control scheme to Dark Fall, and the vibe is a little similar. Going from Lights Out to Barrow Hill today wasn't difficult. In fact, I noticed that many of the sound effects from Lights Out are used in Barrow Hill. Add the fact that Jonathan Boakes was heavily involved in certain aspects of the game (specifically voice acting) and it works as a good companion to the series.
I look at it as a thematic and/or spiritual companion to the Dark Fall games, even though there's no literal connection between them.

On the subject of Barrow Hill, I'll say that it was much more scary to me than Dark Fall. I think its because Barrow Hill had a lot more "Jump at you" moments. That Stone moving around almost gave me a heart attack. Music also had a big role here; While I really like the Dark Fall games' music and will find myself humming it sometimes, Barrow Hill's music was scary and shrieking. (And not much else). I was disappointed about the development with Emma being chased by the stone; apart from feeling bad for the dog, I felt it was much cooler hearing her on the radio and felt like after she left the trailer she stopped being a "real" feeling character and would just call you up randomly to add tension.

When I first heard the radio station, I thought it would be a situation where the player call in and get advice/get information kind of thing, and there would be that divide between the player "in the field" where the scary stuff was happening and Emma in a "safe" spot disconnected from the action - more similar to Ben's calls to her in the beginning. That whole "communication from different "worlds" thing is really cool to me. In fact, I could almost see a whole suspense/thriller game where the player only had/controlled a smart phone.
