Ok. I bought Dark Fall:The Journal, right. All seemed to be going well. I downloaded it without a problem and then I double clicked to play it. My computer changes my resolution and the game "starts".

This is where the problem comes in. The computer tells me that the game is running. I can here it. The screen is in the game's resoultion and in the bar(I forgot what it's called.) shows me the game. I can even hover over the icon in the bar and it shows me the game's menu(simmilar to hovering over the internet Icon and seeing the various pages you have open.)

What should I do. I can't play it. I click on it and nothing. I try to open it again and nothing. Please help! Thank you.

Try to push left Alt key and Tabulator key until You see game icon and then leave keys, gamr should display on screen.

I had a similar problem, so I'm presuming you're using Windows 7, probably the x86 version but that shouldn't make a difference. To get it to work straight off the bat, install the June 2010 distribution of DirectX (may not be necessary, but better safe than sorry), then install the game as usual. Do not start it at this point. It'll screw up your resolution and make it really hard to control.

On the desktop, right-click the game icon and select 'Properties'.

In properties you need to navigate to the 'Compatibility' tab, check the box next to 'Run this program in compatibility mode for:', and select Windows 95 from the drop-down menu.

Then check the box next to 'Disable desktop composition' (same page, under "Settings") and then check the box to 'Run this program as an administrator' (same page under "Privilege Level").

Click 'Okay', restart the computer to get the registry updated and then start your game once you're in Windows. That should do it!

NB: One word of warning - I have found that this game WILL NOT open a dialog box to let you save on Windows 7 machines. Save is only accessible on different settings I guess, or on a machine with a different file structure, but on different settings it either wouldn't let me play at all or I couldn't get to the save icon once in-game. A fix for this would be appreciated!
