Hello,

I've been trying to solve the rune/bowl puzzle in George Crabtree's room. I am certain that I have the runes in the correct spots... I have even verified this by consulting a walkthrough. Unfortunately, nothing happens. Could this be a glitch?

I am attaching a screenshot of my arrangement of the runes to prove my point.

I have problems with this puzzle every time I replay this game. Often I have to move each one slightly to make it work. I'd try that a bit, maybe? I know I sometimes mix them up when I play it, since I'm color-blind, so you might want to try that as well.

Sorry I can't be of more help than that; I can't remember exactly where each one goes, but know that you are not alone in having problems with this puzzle.

Thank you for the reply! I managed to solve the puzzle eventually by doing as you suggested and moving the pieces around a little bit. I noticed that some of the pieces seem to "snap" into place if you let go of them at the right location. I mainly had problems with the last piece, which for me was the upper right piece. It didn't appear to snap into the correct spot like the other pieces and I had to battle with it for 20 minutes or so before, almost by accident, I got it into the right spot. Frustrating, but at least it's over now. I guess you have to be pretty exact with the placement of the pieces.
Thankfully I did not have a lot of trouble with this puzzle, there's actually a rather easy way to do this...
Just position the lower three symbols first, the two on the right should be positioned quite accurately on the spot where the chalk lines cross, and in such a way that the lines are really inside the symbol opening (shouldn't protrude over the edges), the one on the bottom (chalk symbol) is also where the lines cross, but a bit leftish (screenshot).
You can then take the one on top (sandstone) and just drag it over the circleoutline, the game will know when you're in the right spot and just show you the answer for the puzzle.

I got a slightly different configuration for the crosses, so if WildHobgoblin's doesn't work for you, you can try this one

Thank you, WildHobgoblin!
Also, your pic helped me realize that the slightly shiny light brownish symbol is NOT the bronze piece. I was surprised by that.
To be clear, chalk and wood are easy to identify. (Small white, and large dark brown.) But then, the SMALLER of the 2 remaining pieces is the bronze one. The larger 'blonde' one, if you will, is the sandstone.

I was fooled by the shading on that larger one. I would have sworn it was bronze!
