When I first bought the game my sister and I were both playing on computers right by eachother. the tv was off. when either her or I (don't remember who) was reading "The Bride of boodwin moore" or something like that and suddenly the tv came on. I thought I sat on the remote but the remote was on the table undisturbed.
A year later, I was playing in a room with no tv (I didn't remember the previous incident until later) and when I got to the same place my cell phone screen kept turning on. My battery was fine and nobody was calling or texting me. It had never just kept coming on before.
Later, I was reading a review of the game for fun and the reviewer mentioned their tv turning on. Apparently a bunch of people have had this happen to them. While I'm sure its just coincidence, I thought it'd be fun to see if anyone else had had this happen!
Where do you find this book in the game? Perhaps the game audio at that point contains some sort of high-frequency sound that has an odd effect on electronics.

I really don't think so, like BobBlusoe said it's one of those coincidences that makes playing a creepy game even creepier ;)

The name of the tale is "The mourning Bride of Bodmin Moor" and you can find it in Drake's room in the lighthouse.
Hm. I appreciate the help, but I still can't seem to find that book in-game. The only book I see in Drake's room, other than his journal, is the one about the Keepers. Of course, I'm playing the Director's Cut from the Adventures in Terror collection, so it's entirely possible that it's just not in this version. Maybe if the original version goes on sale at some point, I can pick it up and try it there.

The book is in the window sill in Drake's room.
That's where I looked. At least in the Director's Cut, the book on his windowsill is about the Keepers. Nothing about Bodmin Moor unless I'm being completely stupid and overlooking it, which wouldn't surprise me.

You're probably right about the books not matching due to different versions. I guess that's an incentive for folks to get whatever version they still don't have ;)

If you're curious about the tale, the 3 attached pics are the 3 pages of the book.

I forgot about this topic. I am playing the game again later tonight so I will reply if it happened again. I do know that as I play the Dark Fall games, weird things have happened to me. I've sometimes had things look like they have moved slightly, but this is probably my imagination. Once I had this photo propped up on a shelf, leaning against the wall. There was a little square retro camera a couple inches in front of it, but not touching it. At one point I had the lights off and was playing, and the photo moved. I didn't notice this until I turned on the lights again. You would think that if the photo was naturally going to fall due to the angle I had it on, it would have fallen "backwards" and slid to a flat position (probably hitting the camera). However, instead the photo fell forward, and became perfectly supported by the camera. I had no noise but the game coming through speakers, so I should have heard it fall onto the camera, but I heard nothing, except at one point I felt air rush against my ear a little bit. I'm not blaming it on ghosts or anything, but it is too weird that it didn't fall the way is should have in that position. And the camera is a long rectangle thing with a rounded top, so it should have slid off. Creepy, if still a coincidence.

I recently replayed the Dark Fall games (well, 1 & 2) and hopped on to the forums when I found this topic again. As I read my text about that photo falling off I realized I didn't make it clear what I was trying to say.

I DO NOT THINK THE GAME MADE A GHOST COME AND MOVE A PHOTO. Granted, it was weird how it happened, and occasionally "things have moved" (as in because I'm playing a creepy game my mind is in a space where I remember something being different than it really was), my post was meant to have a humorous, flashlight-right-below-my-chin kind of vibe. I wasn't seriously suggesting that the games made things haunt me. I want to make this clear so that people don't decide to ignore these amazing games because of taking my post really literally.

The real truth is that when you play the Dark Fall games your mind gets opened up to thinking about this kind of stuff, and your mind can have fun with itself a littlle bit.

Now, the Bride of Boodwin Moore, on the other hand, is more complicated, because many others had that "TV On" thing that was the focus of the topic. I just played the Director's Cut and it has indeed been removed.

Did Jonathan Boakes remove the story in order to insert a ghost story more relevant to the plot?

Or Did he remove it because of everybody's TV Turning On! To Quote that announcer from Ancient Aliens, "WHAT IF IT WERE TRUE?"

All kidding aside, I wish it had been left in the game. It was a longer and more interesting read than the fictional Fetch Rock story.
Wow, this topic is crazy :D
