I recently purchased Dark Fall: The Journal from GOG after having tried it on GameTap (which I stopped using a long time ago). I know it runs in 640X480 resolution, but I have a minor problem with running the game. The screen is no longer centered while playing DF-- it is pushed up and to the right about half an inch on my screen (which I know isn't terribly helpful). While so far I seem to still be able to access everything I need to, it bugs me that part of the screen is shifted off of the monitor. Is there anyway to correct this?
My monitor normally runs in 1024X768. Now that I think about it, I have the same problem running Oblivion in 800X600, so maybe it's something to do with my graphics card?
Windows XP SP3
2.80 GHz processor
1GB RAM
DirectX 9.0c
NVIDIA GeForce 6200 (latest driver just installed two days ago)
This question / problem has been solved by Telinomeimage
If your go to your nvidia control panel and "adjust desktop size and position" see if changing any of the scaler options there fixes your problem.
Yes, it's probably some setting on your card or on your monitor.
I have installed on my laptop that runs natively @ 1024x768 and i have no display issues with DF.
It seems to be something to do with the monitor. Normally, the monitor has the screen position set at H 50 V 53, but when I checked while running Dark Fall the H position had jumped to 60-something. I brought it down and was able to center the screen (the V position was fine, I didn't know there was a black bar in the bottom of the game normally). After quitting the game the screen was again centered like normal. I'm not sure why it is switching on the monitor when I play though.

EDIT: Seems to be doing fine now-- the monitor automatically adjusts to the position I set it to when I'm playing and puts it back to the normal position after.

I have a dual monitor HDMI setup which slightly differs from others here. But I'm having a similar issue as Telinome. Although it's not showing on my monitor 1 it's way over on my monitor 2 crammed in the top left corner. I want it to display on my monitor 1, it's the 27" and I don't want to have to turn my head to my smaller 24" monitor.

Win 7 64 professional SP1
16gig RAM
AMD Quad 3.4ghz
nVidia 450 1gig RAM (all drivers updated)
doesn't matter what DX it is (vid card is DX11 capable but will default to whatever the game can handle) DX is always updated.

This is window position is happening with both DF1 and DF2.

In addition there is a launch error with my DF2. See attached. Will attempt the redownload and reinstall but just thought I'd mention it.

I had a similar problem. A quarter of the Dark Fall was jammed in the bottom right hand corner of my screen. I tried multiply scaling options in the nvidia control panel and nothing seemed to fix it. So, on a whim I changed my resolution back to 1920x1200 while Dark Fall was running and this seemed to fix it. Given that Dark Fall is a 640X480 box centered, with black borders all around it. Hopefully this will help some others where the scaling fix doesn't help them!
From your screen shot, it looks like a QuickTime file (Qtcf.dll) is missing/messed up: to fix, try:

1. Open the Windows Control Panel
2. Select "Quicktime"
3. Right-click on it and select "Modify"
4. Perform repair installation

If you don't have those options, or don't have QuickTime installed, go to the Apple web site, check support, downloads, Quicktime and download and install Quicktime (you could also download iTunes, which includes Quicktime, if you want).

One of the above should resolve your issue: otherwise, search the web for "QTCF.dll" -- you'll find lots of places that let you download just that file. Finding where to place it in your file structure may be a challenge though...

HTH!
This says solved. But it's not for me.

Dimmer-FJ's suggestion to run a repair of Quicktime did get rid of the error I received.

Although I still have both DF1 and DF2 launching to the top left corner of my secondary monitor.

So there is still no fix for this for my problem.

I've attached another screenshot, and it's of my secondary monitor with where the game is launching to. I don't think it's unusual that I'd want to play the game on my large main monitor instead of my secondary small monitor with the game in a tiny little window?!
