Running windows 8.1 Dark fall 2 directors cut freezes right after intro sequence . Has anyone run into this problem?

I don't know if it is the same problem, but I used to get black screen after selecting new game. Then I installed the regular version of Dark Fall 2, which also installed QuickTime. Also the Director's Cut started working after that QuickTime was installed.
