The power of surprise cannot be overestimated.

In the last 6 updates, we focused on improving and adding new features to the single-player gameplay. However, one of the most important problems remained unresolved - the generic shape of the levels, which are generated completely randomly, which made them erm... let's put it this way - less exciting. Until today :-)

In this update, you will find many new features that will diversify the gameplay, make the levels appealing, and will often surprise you. Levels still generate randomly, but we've changed the way they are generated, which now creates lots of surprising shapes, holes, and branches. At the same time, each skyscraper gained its own personality. Let's get straight to the point:

Update Notes 1.3.0

New features:

Secret Rooms

There are many new surprises waiting for you on the rooftops, but from now on they will also be waiting to be discovered below the surface. Please focus because you may miss the entrance that will give you a full backpack of the precious stuff. This feature is still in Work in Progress but we're sure you'll like it already.

The new look of the generated levels

We have prepared a completely new look for all levels. Of course, we still keep the spirit of the roguelike games, and each level is generated randomly. Only this time, we focused on making more interesting shapes that add variety and smoot gameplay to the game.

Improving look and layout of objects

Along with the new look of the generated levels, we also focused on improving the appearance of the props.

Speed Boost

To speed up the whole game, we have added a unique speed boost when the player eliminates all opponents on each level.

Graphics improvements

Responding to many opinions about the repetitiveness of the levels, we have prepared many new graphic improvements that will allow you to see more differences between each skyscraper. You will find new elements of the environment, a more transparent look of the floor on the Oriental skyscraper, and the variety of the whole Diesel skyscraper.

Other improvements

we've improved the response time attack of the turrets,
when the character has a full life, the first-aid kits remain unused,
in the Hacking Room, enemies appear more often and over a larger area

Bug Fixes

- Fixed incorrectly saved/stored items in the equipment,
- Barrels don't appear in the walls
- Minor HUD improvements
- Fixed items cloning bug
- Gameplay optimization and fixes (e.g., less frequent physics refreshing, more optimal search in AI)

- This time we have prepared something terrifying for you! A special room with cursed items. Each time you can choose one of three unique rewards, which, apart from many benefits, will give you a terrible curse. So... will you take a chance?

Improving the look and collision of Secret Rooms
- In the last update, we have prepared for you a new feature - Secret Rooms. We saw lots of feedback about it and decided to improve their aesthetics and fixed some collisions.

Improving the appearance of the HUD
- This time we focused on a better arrangement of the text in the pop-ups that appeared above the items. We have improved the display of information about the levels on the map.

Improvement of turrets
- We fixed a bug in which the top of the turret jumped from its platform when it rotated behind a player.

What's next?
As we mentioned in the previous update later this month, the following updates will come new animations, a co-op update, New Game+ in Hardcore mode, and Leaderboards.

Danger Scavenger is still growing and we hope you are happy with the all changes and updates. In addition, we've started working with the G.Round team, which will make our project better! :)

New Game+

- Of course, we do not forget about players who prefer to play single. This time, if you finish Danger Scavenger in Hardcore mode, challenging New Game+ mode will be unlocked.

New navigation elements in the hub

- We have added navigation stripes in the hub to make it easier to reach your destination!

New endgame animations

- This time, after returning to HUB, a big applause and cheers from the Scavengers' team await for you.

- fixed an error that caused a drastic drop in FPS after a player's death,
- fixed a bug in connection with a quick reboot, which caused a return to the wrong building,
- fixed a mistake that caused robots from other levels to appear on the player level,
- fixed a bug in the correct allocation of The Curse System,
- improved the HUD: we have added a panel of saved items for both players (in the summary window in Arcade Mode),
- prepared the playing of two gamepads. Earlier the first player could only play on the keyboard and mouse,
- we've improved the control on the gamepad in the workshop,
- fixed a bug in which the other player couldn't pick up items from chest and secrets,
- fixed the bug with the resurrection of the player. Now the second player appears in the right place,
- improved and adjusted the balance of robots and weapons,
- improved the camera's performance.

What's next?

As we mentioned in the previous update, Gamescom Online starts next week. On the Indie Arena Booth stand, you will find Danger Scavenger!

During this event, we are preparing a lot of surprises for you, including a new Demo, the update with leaderboards, a competition for the best score, and other minor bug fixes.

Trick or treat? Why not both?

With Halloween just around the corner, instead of candy, we've prepared a massive update for our players with two new characters, weapons, items, and many other improvements.

At the same time, the Scavengers decorated their base taking care of the right mood, and there are rumors that bats have invaded here and there.

You'll see it all for yourself in a moment so that we won't extend it any further, and let's move on to the content of Halloween Update 1.9.666.

New Content:

Have you ever wondered who will join our team? Thanks to Halloween, we found out which new heroes have visited the Scavengers. Please, welcome to Echo and Professor!

Professor - The most experienced Scavenger. Uses knowledge and technology to fight evil. Can fly in the air for short durations and has a Utility Drone that accompanies him on his quest.

Echo - Very agile and smart Scavenger. She can hack enemies to fight on her side. She can throw a teleporter, which lets her move over huge distances quickly.

The new scavengers took a lot of scrap with them, but they also have interesting gifts. You will find new weapons and super items in them. What they look like:

4 new weapons (Octogun, Inferno Launcher, Stick Bomb Launcher, Messmaker)

5 new items (Utility Drone, Hacking Device, Magnet, Gas Mask, Sonic Boots)

Halloween is behind us! However, we are still working on providing you with the best roguelike game. In this update we introduced a couple of features and hotfixes that will improve gameplay.

Update Notes 1.9.7

New features:

- More challenging game, a higher level of difficulty with every subsequent building
- During the fight with the boss on the Diesel and Military towers, health kits are less frequent,
- Improved readability: less dazzling some lights and particles, better colors for some attacks of the robots, the color difference between player and robots area effects (fire, acid, electric) so that it is not confusing
- More balanced multipliers of DMG bullets from perks (sawblade, sticky grenade, cluster grenade)

Bugfixes:

- Fixed bug with an enemy that is impossible to eliminate,
- Fixed game crashing bug,
- The curse (daemon) sometimes displayed wrong ending conditions after save & quit
- Alt+tab during the loading screen caused the screen to freeze
- Progress bars were sometimes displayed above the windows in HUD, covering the contents of the windows
- HUD improvements in the workshop and better readability of some elements

Miscellaneous:

- Changed the name "roll" to "dodge" in item descriptions and in the tutorial,

Update 1.9.8

Dear Scavengers, Hackers, Rebels, and Cyber-Nomads!

The last weeks of work have been very intense and fruitful for Danger Scavenger...
A large part of the work was related to the creation of console versions of the game for Nintendo Switch and the soon debuting Atari VCS.

Thanks to this, the game has gained a lot of optimization, which results in the PC version of lower hardware requirements, greater smoothness of operation, and better-looking graphics at each level of graphics settings.

The gameplay itself has been smoothed out and got a lot of small improvements and adjustments to boost the overall experience of the game.

improvements:

- performance optimization of many aspects of the game incl.: post-processes, models, particles, etc.
- each of the graphics settings is more optimal and at the same time has gained in graphics quality
- enemy missiles are visually more varied and more visible
- better controller support incl. navigation in the HUD (e.g. in the workshop window)
- it is no longer possible to eliminate enemies outside the screen and the line of sight with impunity. In such cases, they will not remain defenseless and will attack the player even if it is out of their sight

Bug Fixes

- after winning Arcade Mode, the entire inventory was not saved, but only 3 items and weapons (as if the player died)
- projectiles reflected by melee weapons were time incorrectly rotated
- the boss did not attack the player when he was at a long distance
- enemies increase their attack range when they take damage

To celebrate New Year's Day, we've prepared a new update that will make your time in Danger Scavenger more fun.

Improvements:

- added targeting support for the mouse (it can be set in in the pause menu, the default setting is off)

Bugfixes:

- resolution setting for monitors with 71 Hz and 143 Hz refresh rate is correct
- improved the fight with melee weapons, which sometimes had the bug of doing double damage,
- Scavengers don't penetrate objects in the Hub
- texts of the tutorial are displayed correctly without covering the description of Scavengers.

Hello Rebels!

We are pleased to bring you the latest update 2.0.0, which brings many features and improvements that we have been working on over the past months, and thus the game has reached Beta status. We expect it to be a serious release candidate :-)

By the way, apart from the Windows version, we publish native versions for macOS and Linux. We ask for a little bit of understanding here, if something doesn't work perfectly, please let us know on the Steam Community forum.

And probably the most important thing at this point:
Danger Scavenger will leave Early Access on PC, Mac, Linux, Atari VCS and will be launch on Nintendo Switch on 25th March.

On this occasion, we are publishing a new Launch Trailer that shows the current state of the game and, for the unfamiliar with the game, introduces its main features.

Pretty intense, right?

What's next? I think it's time to get into the details of what is included in this update:

Improvements and new features of the AI

- enemies hide behind obstacles
- enemy robots alert each other
- faster reaction time and better response
- enemies attack while running and try to be constantly on the move
- enemies can run up and punch
- humanoid throwers attack faster
- enemies shoot exploding barrels if the player is next to them
- modified humanoid laser attack: 3 missiles simultaneously
- overall AI performance optimization

Graphics and UI improvements

- better color differentiation of opponents
- visualization when an enemy or an explosion alerts others: an effect of a dissolving circle
- different arrows for alarmed and unalarmed enemies
- visualization of attack charging for opponents and fist punch particle fx
- improved the text layout in the Scavenger descriptions in the Hub
- improved font readability for some languages - mainly Chinese

Gameplay tweaks

- improved balance of the number of enemies
- adjusted prices in stores
- falling towers do not damage the player
- homing missiles cannot throw enemies off the roof
- reduced hp for characters: Capitan J. (now 4 hearts), Keiko (4), Rhino (5)

Sound tweaks...

- all sounds more spatial (3d)

...and new SFX

- hot Uzi, Machine Gun, Assault Rifle, Minigun, Sniper Rifle, Messmaker, Grenade Launcher, Sticky Bomb Launcher
- cartridge shells falling to the ground (regular and shotgun)
- Nuke Launcher explosion
- Katana hit
- Machine Gun, Assault Rifle, Minigun unlocking
- attack charging
- thunders (item Thunder Hand and thunder boss)

We’re so happy to finally officially release Danger Scavenger to you!

But first things first;
Thank all of you for supporting our game during the Early Access period!
It’s been quite a ride!

This 2.0.2 update brings some minor improvements and fixes, including the method of assigning keys/buttons in the controller settings has changed.
But the most important change is:

LEADERBOARDS RESET

The game has undergone many changes, including the difficulty level, so if you want to make history as the best of the best, today is your chance!

We made the game available in Early Access on Steam, GOG, and the upcoming console - Atari VCS before its official premiere, exclusively for its supporters. Thanks to feedback from our engaged community, we were able to add a lot of interesting new features and fine-tune the game to your expectations.

During the crazy 9 months of Early Access, the game got 19 updates, the most important of which are:

- improved animation smoothness and overall optimization (Update 1.1.0)
- added in-game workshops for crafting during the run (Update 1.1.0)
- two game modes to choose from: arcade and roguelike (Update 1.2.1)
- diversifying level shapes (Update 1.3.0)
- added secrets (Update 1.3.0)
- added curse system - daemons (Update 1.4.0)
- fixed, improved, and extended the co-op game mode (Update 1.5.0)
- added new game+ in roguelike mode (Update 1.5.0)
- added leaderboards (Update 1.6.0)
- faster, stronger, TURBO - adjusted speed and game balance (Update 1.8.0)
- new content added: 2 more characters, more weapons, items etc. (Update 1.9.666)
- polishing update including performance optimization (Update 1.9.8)
- game improvements and new content including better AI (Update 1.9.9)
- beta polishing, bug fixes, UI improvements (Update 2.0.X+)

Thanks to the updates, the list of the MAIN FEATURES has been extended:

- Dynamic risk-reward gameplay: choose your path wisely, face the challenges, and become the hero you've always wanted to be! Or... take an easier path and return with nothing.
- Collect scrap and craft the equipment out of it. You can customize each weapon to your individual needs using the crafting system.
- Unexpected item combinations to discover during your adventures. Design your perfect strategy by many trials and errors, obviously resulting in many deaths.
- 6 unique Scavengers - each one has their skills and style of dealing with problems: stealth, strategy,
- rapid-fire action, or maybe a mix of them? You decide!
- Defeat 5 greedy corporations. Face 30+ types of enemies, their special versions, and bosses.
- Choose from a large selection of 30+ various weapons, 50+ active and passive items, and upgrades to buy or loot.
- You'll crawl higher than ever before - this unique skyline crawler takes you to the roofs of the breathtaking cyberpunk city, where you will face robots controlled by AI.
- Team up and fight the enemy robots in Cooperation Mode
- Immersive soundtrack composed by Szymon Weiss.
- Danger Scavenger, now available on PC (Steam, GOG, itch.io, Stove, nVidia GeForce Now, Humble Store), Atari VCS, and Nintendo Switch.
