Hi,

I'm on the Marsh level where there's a ladder down into the water. I pick up a hidden Mana Skull and climb back up the ladder and over to the bridge. I cross the bridge, it blows up, a klaxon sounds and two turrets start firing a beam...and the game freezes. This happens every time.

My machine is an Alienware M17x, Windows 7 64-bit and GeForce GTX 675M.

What I've tried:

- switching between the GeForce and the Intel HD4000 GPU (it's an Optimus setup)
- run as administrator on and off
- compatibility for Windows XP, 2000 and 98 (98 won't even open the saved game screen)
- updating the graphics drivers

I also tried fiddling with nVidea Inspector but there's not much on the Internet about problems with Daikatana beyond the usual moaning about the game-play itself.

Does anyone have any more ideas? I'm really enjoying it so far so it's a bit of a shame!

Thanks!

Phil

That's odd, I've never had a crash there.

My system:
Athon II triple core @ 3GHz
6GB RAM
Radeon 7770 1GB
Windows 8

I haven't had to tweak any compatibility settings with GOG's Daikatana or Gamersgate's w/ v1.2 patch.

What's supposed to happen in that sequence is that you cross the bridge, klaxons sound, lasers from the two large pedestals destroy the bridge, a huge amount of flies spawn from slots in the wall, and a very large mama fly swoops down to attack you. It's a trap! Once you kill the mama fly, the gate at the bottom of the pool opens up and you can proceed to the next section of the marsh map.

Once you get past that section you never have to revisit that part of the marsh map.

It's not ideal, but I have a save right after killing all the flies on the bridge ambush on samurai difficulty. Maybe later sections of the game will be more cooperative? It goes in Daikatana's 'data' directory.

Thanks very much for going to the trouble of posting that for me - it's worked perfectly!

I wondered if my save had somehow corrupted but if I play your save from just before the scripted event, it also crashes on my machine so there's obviously something about that sequence which it doesn't like.

I'll mark your post as the solution as it's certainly fixed my problem. Thanks again for your help!
